I recently downgraded firmware of my 568.2 to 2.12.
I setup a new config from scratch in the Meridian config program. Now, every time I select a source, it selects the correct codec and input and plays for 5 seconds and then stops. If I change DSP within that source, it does the same thing - plays correctly for 5 seconds and then stops.
This happens regardless of what input, DSP, codec, and source material I am playing. What could I be doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Can you describe exactly how you downgraded the firmware? I assume it was all working correctly before you did it ?

Have you also gone back to the older version of the legacy setup programme too?
I ask because you couldn't use the older version to configure a machine which had v2.59b loaded (a new setup prog was released to utilise 2.59b), so there may also be issues in reverse?
Certainly the way DSP presets were processed in the machine was changed, so I'd want a matching set of firmware and Setup .exe as a baseline.
Cheers
George

George is right regarding the DSP presets being processed differently. I have however used the same version of the config programme for both 2.12 and 2.59 without any obvious issues.

I downgraded by following the wiki instructions - by finding the appropriate .mfp file to batch upload the .mfu files in order correctly.
I did not know that there was a older legacy config program but I do not think that I used this. I did however select 2.00-2.49 in the setup options and created a brand new config file with all of my settings.
Again, I would like to reiterate that the sound plays correctly (or through center channel only - I cannot tell which exactly since it does not play for long enough) for ~5 seconds.
Since that time, I re-upgraded to 2.5b9 and everything is working as before downgrade (albeit with the same pops/clicks I have been experiencing thus far when playing DTS tracks which I was hoping to resolve by downgrading).

Have you re-typed? Ie factory reset to a user defined base config after each firmware upload.

Yep I definitely retyped after the firmware upgrade/downgrade.

Hi, I notice the reason for you downgrading firmware was due to pops/clicks...I am also experiencing pops/clicks on my 568.2MM and although the scenario seems different to what you describe i.e. playing DTS tracks I wonder if any of the following thread Clicking 568 sounds familiar to you?

Hi,
Thanks for your replies. I did see that thread as well as others on this forum/other forums.
I really don't want to "jinx" my present setup, but I re-reupgraded firmware, retyped, resetup, changed the gains to the ones indicated in jools' thread, and turned the display to "off," (which I found others had tried on other forums and had worked). Some explanation was given stating that the PSU becomes stressed when DTS is being played and to counteract this, the display can be turned off to allow more reserve power. Yes, it could be complete BS, but the proof is in the pudding1
Touch wood, but I haven't so far had any clicks except for once, right at the start when playing a DTS track.
The funny thing is, I used to be a DD guy (no not that), but ever since the HD audio track formats have become available, I have been slowly moving towards listening to everything in DTS Cinema audio formats whenever I can since the difference between HD cinema audio and DTS seems insignificant to minimal (at least to me).
Thanks to everyone once again.

... since the difference between HD cinema audio and DTS seems insignificant to minimal (at least to me). Hi, Without a HD621 or a 3rd party device that's been modified to have 3x SPDIF output you would not be able to benefit from the HD lossless codecs, only the lossy core is available. Which I suspect is why you're not hearing much difference. Regards, Carl

I seem to remember there was a problem creating a type setup file in the config program. It was best to create one via the front panel of the 568 and then fetch it to the config program to make your modifications. Its worth a try!

Hmm...
Interesting.
Ill give that a try. But how do I reset to defaults before retyping and then fetching back to the software?
Thanks.
