Out of the clear blue, one of my two twin stores decided to go offline. Before I could get a chance to backup (yes, I know I should have an additional backup) and I should have taken screen captures of all 600 screens in case something like this happens, I didn't.
When looking at the info screen with only the troubled TwinStore connected, it lists total storage as 1995gb, with 200gb free. However, none of this music is available on the Control 15. C15 has been replaced to no avail.
Do I have any options or am I just out of luck?
Thanks in advance....

If you go into the core broker debug screen, presumably on the C15, does it show anything in the top broker information section under albums and listings.
Have you tried connecting to the TwinStore as an SMB share using the guest account?

Do I have any options or am I just out of luck? As I recall, others (ncpl?) have had database corruption which has been sorted out remotely by Meridian. But I don't know if that will help you, or if they would still be able to do that.

Ludwig, my issue was related to large databases when a data field count that is displayed (e.g. artist, composer etc) reaches a very specific number (256). M have found it and will fix.
@ Tonepub, assume both HDD's are fully functioning in the TwinStore? Have you rebooted everything ?
Can you take a screen grab of the debug screen and post here?
Also, access the share as Ian suggests and see if the file structure for albums, artists etc is there.
Can you confirm that albums are definitely missing from your library and that that the core simply hasn't moved them ?
You don't have a weird focus set that is fooling you ?
Rgds, Nick

To get to SMB share on mac, find connect to server on one of the finder menus (can't remember which but it may also be CMD-k) then put in IP address of TwinStore and select connect as guest. All your music files should be under the music2 folder.
Apologies, I'm a bit of a numpty with the Mac UI so can't remember what is where and what shortcut does what.
To connect to Sooloos broker debug from any web browser, put in http://[core IP]/debug in your browser address bar, obviously substituting your core IP address for [...]

To make things even easier, I found a Netbook running Windows XP around the office and decided to go that route. Picked up a 2TB external at lunch and currently am transferring the contents of "Music 2" to it. I'm guessing that this will take hours, if not a whole day, considering the TwinStore was almost full. Am I correct, that the next step is to go to the Restore button in Control:PC and just direct the new storage to this backup drive and all will be well again? Either way, my thanks to the Meridian forum members for helping me on this. I wish I saw a little more of this kind of cooperation on my side of the pond, but it just seems to be a lot of whinging about who has the best toys. We have a popular bumper sticker here in America that says, "He who dies with the most toys wins." However, I've always felt he who dies is dead, and has won nothing.

I will let others discuss the ins and outs or restore, but the SMB is the raw data not a backup so you will have saved your data but suspect have to re import some how. Meridian support may have to get involved to restore data in a non standard format. It also implies that the TwinStore is still good, for the time being at least, assuming that you are looking at what you think you are looking at - iirc you have two stores so need to be looking at the right store.
I did wonder though if the affected TwinStore failed to update its software recently. That would effectively shut it out of the system. Now you have access to a PC, run the Sooloos configure application and see what components and versions that reports.
Also, I can't remember if you ran the core broker debug. There is info on that that shows the components recognised by core. It may help explain the mystery of why one store has disappeared even though it looks fine.

I restarted the system with only the suspect TwinStore in the loop and it comes up as 1920MB storage (or something close to that) with only 200MB available.
I'll give the other things a try once I get the data safely on another disc.
I'm hoping (maybe optimistically) that I can transfer this data over the network to the new store. We'll see.
Who knows, maybe running the config thing will put things right in the original store?
What I'm the most curious about is how to stop this from happening again?
