Hi all,

I've tried researching/testing to no avail so its back to get some advice from you all! I'll try and be detailed but succinct to avoid confusion. Could you please let me know at which point I may have messed up or what info I might be missing?

1. I am trying to use a 568.2 and 562v2 together. 568.2 to 562v2 comms are connected via the C5 lead and digital output is connected and working (tested manually - see below). I also believe I have typed both 568.2 and 562 correctly.

2. I have one coaxial digital source (D2) and one optical digital (O1) and one analog source connected directly to the 568.2. These work perfectly.

3. I have 2 optical digital sources (O1 + O2) connected to the 562. 562 is relayed via mains digital out to 568.2 D1. The sources which use D1 are appropriately used in the setup program. However, comms is set to none with comms address being 1 for these sources.

I am having what I believe is a comms setup issue. 568.2 is setup with system address as 1 and copy address as 2 (I don't know what each does but have left it at these default values).

Similarly, the 562 is also setup with system address as 1 and copy address as 2.

The 562 does not turn on at all when i turn on the 568.2 in the system. The 562 does not change sources when I change sources on the "Controller" 568.2.

If I manually hange sources and turn on the 562, everything works as expected.

What if everything am I doing incorrectly?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

EDIT/UPDATE:

I just realised that I had to match source inputs on both 562 and 568.2 e.g. CDR for both etc.

If this is whats needed that's great. However, I would love some detail/explanation as to a couple of parameters in the setup program:

568.2:

Overview page/advanced: Comms system address and copy address.
Source page/advanced: Comms type and comms address - what are 4C to 8C.

562:
setup/advanced: Volume control "secondary"
Sources/advanced: Comms type and comms address

I ask this since I have been doing a bit of trial and error, particularly with these settings and so do not want to butcher anything in the process.

Thanks again!

Hi,

Comms 1 is Meridian CD.
Comms 2 is Meridian Radio.
Comms 3 is Meridian DVD.
Comms 4 is Meridian Sooloos.

Non Meridian equipment is NC.

You would want the 568 to do main volume and no volume on the 562.
Set the physical inputs on 562 to the source label you require.

On the 568, those sources must be D1 in your set up, then label as required in the 568.
The same for other inputs in 568, source D2 o1 ( or what ever you use)

Don't mess with system address, leave as default.
Make sure you only have one controller, the 568. Re read the manual to check this.

It should be logical when you get your head around it.

Off the cuff thoughts, but do re read the manuals, Chris smile
