During a recent electrical storm my G68 went dark. Other devices plugged into the same surge protector are fine. Is there any user serviceable fuse or circuit breaker on the G68? Or does this have to go to Meridian for servicing?

Look at the rear of your G68 and you will see a fuse holder between the main switch and the main power inlet.

Thanks, I see something there. How on earth do I open it?

Hi,
Page 61 of the: G68 Digital Surround Controller - Installation Guide
You might need a slim blade to get it going.

Hopefully it is the fuse, but I had my G68 get whacked twice by vicinity lightning strikes (I'm also in CT) that did not have any effect on other equipment but fried the PSU.

Carl, My G68 installation guide has the index on page 61. Can you give me a clue as to what section it is in?

Carl, I found it on page 59. It says "pull out the drawer". There is nothing to pull on! I tried prying it with a single edge razor blade and nothing budges. Any suggestions?

Hi,
I looked at the PDF version (GSC/3) on Duncan's site and just searched the text for 'fuse'. The search found a section called Maintainance - How to change the mains fuse.
I guess you have a different edition on the installation Guide.
To be honest there is not much info in the manual, A part from a diagram to confirm where te fuse carrier is.

Did you pull the mains lead out first, to get better access?
Can you take a pic and post it, I'm struggling to understand why it is so difficult on your G68.
Have a look at the G68ADV Rear photo on Duncan's site, zoom in and check out the fuse carrier. Does yours look like this one?

There should be a little notch in the plastic just big enough to fit a small flat bladed screwdriver. About 3mm wide. You may have leaver it a little then you can pull the fuse drawer out.
There should be a spare fuse mounted inside.

Got it! A screwdriver blade placed UNDER the bottom center pried it out; the fuse was blown. The replacement failed immediately.
I am dismayed by all the reports of failed power supplies in Meridian gear. It's an old unit and out of warranty. I guess
I'll give Marc Koval a call.
Thanks to all for your help.

Hi TJS Not all Meridian Gear - seems to have more issues with the Switched Mode Supply gear.
I have never suffered any major power supply issues with my 500 series equipment - except a blown mini fuse which did not blow a second time - and am pretty sure they all use Linear Power Supply architectures.
