Good to know...thanks for posting. I always hoped that more artists would head this way with downloads. A few have but not many.

Off the top of my head:

Nine Inch Nails
Porcupine Tree
Various bits from Society of Sound

Probably more if I query the library.

Another interesting comparison of an album done in both 44/16 and 96/24

Both images are Track #1 - "Supremecy"

96/24

Have to say this 96/24 version sounds terrific !!!

Just comapre the dynamic detail available in the first section of the 96/24 compared to the 44/16.

Well done Muse !

Also Paul McCartney.

As a sweeping statement it tends to be the richer bands who have greater control over their output who go down this route.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

So they basically f*** the 16/44 version up to 'prove' how superior the 24/96 one is.

Not Fit for purpose springs to mind.

Have you tried down mixing the 24/96 to 16/48?

All the best,
Steve.

Currently listening to the Muse 96/24 download. Flipping amazing. Now that's what I bought the 5200s for! Getting seriously tempted to spend a slug of money on some 8000s!

@Steve, the 16/44 version is like so very many CD's. I don't think they deliberately fcuk it up; more like that is how CD is 'expected' to sound.

It feels like more labels, artists, studios etc may be waking up to how much better the albums can sound.

Here's hoping.

@Limegrove
Go on...you know you want to wink

Nick
