you can use altavista translation service to reach this site. after that go to "Negotiation information" and you will see "Above-mentioned negotiation price is special large amount assessment just during period."
after that go to CD section.
so look at those prices (100,000 yen is 526GBP).
well, my beloved Meridian 588 after transportation to faraway Japan still costs 788 pounds to the dealer
if you wan to be fair - you have to add VAT. but even if we do so it's still 922 pounds. but if you wan to be fair - be really fair and deduct shipping costs before that.
look at other prices and you will get an idea what is dealer's margin is.
that's why dealers in the Anglo Saxon world have united - it's called CEDIA. Most say they give EXCELENT after sales service. Well excuse me but if it fails you simply return the thing to be repaired. With Meridian I've benn witness of this twice: dealers in the UK say that they will want to optimize speaker efficiency in the room. Really? I was under the impression that to do DSP properly you need: - RS232 total control of the units - laptop with software - one or more mics to record the payback of several test signals The above is a propoer set-up of DSP speakers in ANY room. it takes about 6 hours. I can assure you that dealers who do this will charge you at least GBP2K for it. I would but the point is if they say they optimize speakers then this ought to be included. Since it is not all they do is SUBJECTVE and here my friends I can beat most dealers. Not only do I have a MSC in imaging but I understnad totally Acoustics (and Video and Imaging). I sure would like to know how many dealers are science literate??????????????????? Cedia? Right!
You know, I wouldn't mind if Meridian themselves were taking a bigger slice of the retail cost; they are a small specialist company producing superb products and they deserve to do well.
What I really object to is the thought of dealers creaming 30-40% off the retail price which we pay, for so called specialist service and advice. The standard of knowledge from my local Meridian retailers is frankly piss poor, and I could beat them into a cocked hat in terms of optimising a Meridian sytem. Most struggle to be bothered to return phone calls when asked questions!
No, they don't earn their keep in my opinion. Smaller margins I say, split between Meridian and ourselves!
Absolutely agree Mr.M.My dealer appeared to upgrade my V3 861 to V4 and didn't have the right tools even though they were listed on the documents which came with upgrade!! He also slightly scratched and bent the back casing trying to get the IE42 card out with a pliers. If you ask Meridian anything about a problem they say : 'Contact your skilled, trained dealer' but I end up answering his questions ! I don't begrudge anyone money they've earned but I had to travel to the U.K. to get a demo of my kit. My dealer acted as a postman. He received the carton which contained my 861 which I then collected (unopened!) and set up myself in my home. I think its shocking that some dealers can get 40%+ for doing very little !!
well, in defense of the high-margin dealers, remember that there are two sides to every buy-sell equation.
if you don't think the price is reasonable, then negotiate. there's always some dealer who'll be happy to take a lower profit to simply book mail-order revenue --- regardless of what limits his dealership agreement with M says.
calendar year end has been a really good time to negotiate deals for me on M equipment.
my local dealer is useless and won't discount reasonably given their minimal knowledge of the product and complete and utter lack of a broad line of demo equipment. so i just shop elsewhere.

My experience of Meridian dealers is very poor. They seem to know very little about what they are dealing with. You ask a question and they say they will ring back after ringing Meridian themeselves. I know more about it than they do. I recently went to hear a pair of DSP 7000's fed a signal from an 800 thru a 861. The 7000's were the only speakers attached to the 861 which was setup for 5.1 and using ambisonics as the DSP mode! After sales service has been very good though. I have gone from 500+562+2*5000's, added 565+2*5500+5000c, then 596+861, and most recentely 800. They or merdian must be doing something right (you decide who).If i did not know what i was after and how to sort out problems myself (or by contacting Meridian directly/or here) i would would have been very frustrated and had a poor opinion of merdian gear. I would say merdain have got my business once i went multi channel despite the dealer.

Eh Eh eh. When I bought my Meridian astuff I told the dealer: I want the DSP's set-up so that I can use BOTH of its i/p's independently. i/p 1 for the Meridian CD and i/p for the ADC which is not Meridian. He told me three days latter (prior to delivery) that it coulsn't be done. I told him "listen, the set-up is part and parcel of the contract between the two us.If the DSP's aren't set when you deliver them along with the CD one of the two will happen: a) I will sue you for breach of contract or, b) i will charge you my time at 150 quit/hour). He came in to set-up the stuff and the poor man didn't know enough to set-up the speakers one way or the other. I didn't take any legal action and told him - "just unpack the stuff place the speakers here and there then go". I then spent 1/2 hour studying the two manuals - very simple stuff and found that indeed type 5 (could be another don't remeber exactly as I don't have the speakers anymore - upgraded to Wilson Watt and Mark Levinson stuff) would do the job. He did give me a discount of 15% and I know that he is no longer in business... Mark Levinson has very competent dealers I can tell you that!
Markup on M (by the dealer) is NOT 100%. It's not nearly that. But I don't want to get in trouble :-).

Unfortunately I think the Altavista Babelfish needs a service and retune.
This site is a used equipment broker/shop, and the prices listed here are the approximate prices you can expect to get for a second hand unit in 9.5/10 condition. This is not a dealer price list.
george - i've seen actual M invoices on items i've purchased with prices to the dealer. i can't vouch that every item has the same markup, but it seems unlikely that they'd do something wacky with different pricing structures for each individual product. i also can't vouch for dealers that don't buy direct - no clue what the distributors take.
