Hi,

I just bought my first ever piece of Meridian; a 561 digital preamp paired with a Roksan Caspian 5 channel power amp. Amazing step up from my now broken Pioneer surround sound amp.

I get stereo from the blu-ray player but can't get surround sound, also bought a cable to connect my iPod/iPhone to the amp but can't get sound from that either.

I know it's old kit now and the settings probably need fine tuning but the stereo is wonderful.

Any ideas on how I get surround sound? The Roksan has individual outputs for 5 channels but the Meridian doesn't.

Any help will be gratefully received.

Thanks

Old fashioned Dolby Digital or DTS are your options. The earliest Meridian units with discreet 5.1 was 568.2mm or equivalent 861(v3?)

Hi, welcome to the forum. You will need to set up your 561 correctly. First step is to study the manual and set a "type" based on your layout. Then you fine tune from there. You not only have stereo but Meridians acclaimed Trifield and Music surround modes amongst others. You will also have DD AND DTS. Meridian products are rarely plug and play but setup is easy and logical once you get the hang of it all.
RTFM, RTFM RTFM is the best advice I have lol
Enjoy, Chris smile

Hi and welcome,
If you don't have the manuals, you can get a copy from the link at the top of this Page. 'Duncan's Meridian Info' is the place to start. It is the armamentarium of the Meridian world.
Happy reading...

Hi Plardy

Are you aware of the windows based setup program? Config. Download it to your computer/laptop, will make life so easy to set the unit up smile failing that then the 561 can be configured using the manual and on screen graphics from either the s video or composite outputs.

Kind regards

David

Hi to all and many thanks. That's quite some user manual!! Sadly I'm an Apple Mac guy so don't think I can use that to help me set it up. I'll spend sometime trying to set it up over the next few days and let you know how I get on.
