One of my rear speakers (M60's) developed a hiss recently. This has now been repaired and I have been trying to set up my system again but I am getting no sound from the rears.
In an effort to try & locate the problem I retyped the 568 from 5.0DDA to 2.0A using the front panel and connected the M60's to the analogue fronts (leaving the DSP connections alone). On selecting LD (my mac airport input) the 568 selected Trifield as the preset and sound came from the front three (DSP) speakers........still not from the M60's.
Whilst the speaker was being repaired a friend came round and played a movie through his tablet into the edge, there was a problem with the power supply to the tablet, resulting in two loud cracking noises through the M system.
Is it possible to blow the analogue part of the processor, leaving the digital part intact?
Is it correct to get sound via DSP's when the unit is configured for analogue outputs only? If not could this be a firmware issue? I am running the latest beta version.

First thing, are you sure you retyped correctly? Did you switch off (mains at rear) and on after the re-type?

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't - so I have just turned the front three speakers off at the rear, retyped to 2.0A again, turned the DSP's back on & am still getting Trifield as the selected preset with sound from the DSP's.

Sorry I meant you have to turn the 568 off and on after retyping.

Just turned the 568 off & on again, now there is no sound from the DSP's (as I suppose I should expect), but still none from the M60's when connected as front L&R. Trifield is still the default preset so I tried direct, Mono & Stereo to no avail. The response of the 568 to the MSR seems slow/ erratic, but it eventually gets there.

Hello All,

Would reflashing the firmware sort out the erratic behaviour on this 568.2mm?

best regards

Frank

Hi Nick,

Did you resolve the 'bad eprom' displayed on switching 568.2mm on issue you had at the end last year? I've just re-read that thread but it was left open ended.

If your still getting a 'bad eprom' message on your 568 that could be indicative of a firmware issue that will require you to reload it.

Regards,
Carl

The bad eprom message is no more. I think I may have used the wrong firmware version in mconfig.
I had still been having problems and Gerry from Phase3 very kindly came round & got everything working - the main issue appeared to be a faulty custom master lead. He then took the M60 away to check out the buzz (it turned out to be a dry joint). The loud cracks from the tablet occurred when I had only one rear, as neither currently has sound I suspect the processor to be the culprit.
WRT reloading firmware I have never done it for anything and have no idea where to start. The computer I used for mconfig was so old it had floppy drives and a serial port so I loaded it on using the original floppies, the latest firmware was already loaded in the 568 (v2.5b9). Bayetta was having similar problems to me at the time & suggested I try v2.12, I have an emailed file of this, but as I use an iMac & I couldn't connect the old computer to the web have yet to use it. There is another pc in the house which I can get online with, but only has USB outputs, so I have invested in an Aten USB-serial convertor as I thought it may well come in useful.
