After having been absent from the Meridian world for a number of years, I have just received my new 818, MD600 and a pair of M6. It is too early for a detailed assessment, but the M6 in this combination certainly defy their size (or even price!). The bass is impressive, and the stage and SQ are even after a few hours better than expected.
Not surprisingly, I have a number of questions:
1. I have imported (CD and files) about a dozen albums to test the whole environment and to find out what meta data need to be changed/completed etc. and how to streamline the process. All the album work is importing fine (various sizes from 200x200 to 1400x1400). However, on the iPad app in the main view I just see three album covers, all the other imported albums just show the title. But when I click on them and go into their page to see the tracks etc. I see the album art in all its glory. How can I make the album art show in the main browse page for all discs?
2. The second question is probably more trivial: on my G68 I could change the display title of the source - how can I do that on the 818?
Many thanks for any help - it's good to be back again! Cameronl

It could be simply that it's still working on the covers. Sometimes it takes a bit of time as it does quite a lot of work in the background.
Alternatively, try restarting the iPad app (close it in the bar along the bottom then relaunch it). I don't think restarting the MD600 should be necessary but might be worth a try.
I had the same issue with album art not appearing right away on the iPad main scroll screen. In some cases the art took a few more minutes to appear, in other cases it took overnight. In all cases the art did eventually show, so don't spend too much time trying to reload (as I did intitally).
Same here, it does take time. Some of the art I get off the net still doesn't come to the main screen but is in the album screen. I will get to the bottom of it in the end. Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone
Many thanks - this might be right, as the only cover art showing is the one I imported yesterday! So I'll just be patient...! I'll let you know once and if it appears!
Best, Cameronl

Am I right thinking that you should not be turning Sooloos off a lot as it is not good for the hard drive..... Clarification would be helpfull if any has the definitive answer.
cheers Chris

Hard to say, I believe it is a 2.5 inch laptop drive and if so then I wouldn't worry too much as laptops are never on permanently, but I would avoid turning it off and straight back on, always give it a little rest, of course despite doing this the drive will call it quits ASAP! I have a TwinStore and when not turning it off a 6 month old drive died, I had it replaced and now turn it off every night and have had no issues at all. So far!

I tend to subscribe to the less-is-better philsophy with hard-drive on/off cycles. If the reason to cycle the unit is to speed up the appearance of the artwork, then I think a bit of patience is in order as it will eventually show up.
There will always be somebody who experiences long drive life from a unit that gets cycled frequesntly, and conversely somebody who gets very short life from one that is always on (or off) - but I think across an acceptable sample size, less cycles is better than more cycles. Although I am sure that hard-drive life in laptops is a result of many factors, my personal experience is that drives fail three time more frequently than the unit in my desktop (3 dead laptop drives in 10 yrs versus one in 15 years for the desktop - ok, small sample size, but still ....).
