If your talking about this article and re-read it, you will notice that it talks about 'Smartlink' and not vanilla MHR which is quite different and as I say, is part of most modern Meridian equipment and not specific to multi channel audio. You will also notice that the article does not mention .mm but just 568.2. Never take what is written in Meridian articles or on their website at face value - it is often never the complete picture and is quite often outdated, highly ambiguous, refers to future promise or wrong.

If you are looking at Meridian-audio.info, then that has nothing to do with Meridian Audio Ltd but Duncans own website and maintained by a number of HHers. It appears to have omitted the work 'Smartlink'.

568.2 does not have MHR Smartlink but it does have MHR allowing 2 channel encrypted input and MHR encryption of its digital outputs to speakers etc. The 568.2mm has the MHR Smartlink input and it is the VGA style connector on top left rear of case. This allows up to 6 channels of discreet digital audio to be received in addition to the MHR capabilities of the vanilla 568.2 and 568(.1).

I'm the person that purchased this for about $1600 or less possible about 4 years ago and confirm it was upgraded to .2mm and had the Meridian upgrade certificate to go with it. There were a number manuals as well as cables. I made an internal change and swapped out the fuse to handle Australian power requirements. The unit was in like new condition with no marks on it.

You can search some of my previous posts where I stumbled on some tweaks not recorded or said possible by Meridian, less said the better smile

The tweaking got me into trouble and so cooked my somewhat rare tweeters so I got rid of it. I think I mentioned this in my posts as well. I think it was more the, not carefully noting the required steps to take when tweaking that done my tweeters.

The 568.2mm is a fabulous pre-pro and was probably the best my ststem ever sounded. The soundstage was simply amazing. I also sold the 568 to go down the HDMI path but I still think about getting a 568.2mm again and doing a home theatre bypass setup to incorporate both the 568 and my denon.

Just out of curiosity, how much is the 568.2mm fetching nowadays?

Has there been any firmware updates for this unit of recent times?

Cheers
