I haven't used the system for a few days. In the mean time nothing has been changed. I fire it up tonight and theres no sound from the multi channel input. I check the settings on the front display and I see RC is set to bypassed and HS Output is set to no - neither is my default setting.

I tried retyping the 861 and then uploading my current MSF. It didn't produce the desired results. In the config program I see my settings correctly. I'm thinking that I will need to create a brand new MSF and rerun the RC. Any thoughts before I make the effort? This is just weird.

Meanwhile my audio source on one of the coax inputs is working fine (though it is also ignoring my RC preference) This is kind of like a computer that has corrupted preference file.

Best regards,
Jerry

Hi Jerry,

It's very unlikely that the 861 is playing up and at the same time your .msl file is corrupt esp. as the two reside on different normally not connected systems (861 & PC).

I suspect the 861 has a fault and that downloading the good .msl file will not fix it.

I would consider taking the following actions to explore this further:

1) Retype and load a new .msl file (see if that make a difference, I suspect it will not).

2) Re-load the firmware in the v6, re-type and load your original .msl file. (see what this does).

3) If 2 is not good, then try new .msl file (just in case).

4) Phone Meridian frown

BTW it is possible to transplant MRC data from one .msl file to another wink You just need a keen eye and a text editor. I think there is a page on this in the WiKi.

Do let us know how you get on.

Regards,
Carl

Thank you Carl. This next week is going to be extremely busy so if I can't get to it today it will have to wait until next weekend. I will let you know. I already did try retyping it and then reloading my MSF ontop of that.

I didn't try the firmware though... I will give that a shot (retype, firmware, reload current MSF file)

Thanks for the tips on moving the config over. I think if the idea is to start from fresh though, Id really want to just copy down my various settings (distances etc) and then start with a fresh file. The real pain in the neck is setting up all the equipment on the first page. I know Meridian thinks they made it easier with the newer software but I preferred the old way- maybe I was just used to it. smile

Best regards,
Jerry

Hi again, it was not the base config, it was the MRC (Meridian Room Correction) mesurements, which are taken whilst performing MRC with a SPL/Microphone. This data is stored in the .msl file and used to generate the filters.

Carl

AH HA- now I understand- THANK YOU Carl. That will save a lot of time as I have a long distance to go and the signal can sometimes be tricky. And I was very happy with my last run of the MRC. I will look that up and merge that in.

Best regards,
Jerry

Well, now I have an answer. And the answer is what many of you probably suspected: its NOT a Meridian problem. Another component in my system failed. I have a backup of that component and now all is well. This sounded so weird because it never happened. (and I was never here... wink )

But my thanks to Carl and everyone who chimed in remains. smile
