I did read that thread. I am asking because if the MS600 includes ID40 and the ID41 is an improved version, does that mean the MS600 needs an upgrade?

Hi,
The MS600 does not include an ID40, though it does perform a similar function as a Sooloos source that is devoid of hard disks and noisy PC electronics. The ID40 card is only fitted into the 861v6 and 808.3.
There is an upgrade from the MS600, but thats called the 818! Though Ive not heard one myself yet (dare I get one on home demo!), the 818 is said to be now be the highest performing Sooloos source.

It would be interesting to see photos of both cards.
Presumably there's no new special sauce, just doing things better?

The card in the ms600 must be a ID40, I had both 861v6 and MS600 and they both came up in the Debugg software as same endpoint and softwareversion - same everything

The Sooloos cards are very different between the MS600 and ID40 but they do share the same chipset. Regards, Carl I think your perception is correct. Having listened to C15 to 818 to M6's at Meridan Oxford, I was impressed. IMO the excellent performance from the M6's was derived from the 818. Others comment that 5200's are superior to M6's. Can't argue with this POV but would be very happy with a comparative demonstration. How much better are 5200's fed from 818? Hopefully by an audio mile. Please take a home demo of 818 and report soundings.
