Im a bit confused as to wether the 568.2mm upsamples moveis or not, in DD DTS or PL2 with the 598 as DVD.

I have a 2ch anologue setup but would like to upsample movies when I watch them.

I have DVD(598) set as enhanced CD preset to Trifield.

DVD preset,if its a 2ch one to goto PL2 but this DSP does not upsample,correct.

DVD multi goto preset Discret whatever that is?? Is that up sapmleing ??

Im very confused here, need some help please.

What I would like is for the 568.2 to be set up to play DVD in 2ch( as I only have 2ch's) but as tyhe best DSP setting and unpsample is this possable.

Does any one esle have a 2ch system, I mainly listen to CD 90% of the time but do what the odd movie or mainly Buffy on DVD(which is 2ch) and therefore multichannel output into 2ch needed for the films.

As long as the 598DP is doing the decode for DD/DTS, the 568.2MM will upsample all channels. Set the Hi-Speed output to on is the one "gotcha" I seem to recall. Also, I think setting the 598DP "Multi-channel" to No will make the 598DP behave as a stereo only device.

For external bitstreams (DD/DTS) from say an HDTV set top box there is no upsampling on 568.2MM. For external PCM streams @ 44.1 or 48K the 568.2MM will upsample to 88.2 or 96K respectively.

I am not certain if 861 will upsample a DD/DTS bitstream from an external device -- I don't think it does, but other posters will no with certainty.

My 598/861 upsamples DD/DTS. You can check on the 861 because when it shows the base sampling rate itis followed by a capital K. A small k indicates that it is not upsampling. You can get to this display by scrolling through the display modes. Not sure if it shown like this on the 568.

AS regards the 568.2 upsampling all channels, is this so for all DSP options, as the display for say direct stereo and Trifield is with a "K" but if as default setting is with movie;PL2 is set the display is "k" not "K" does this not mean no upsampleing?

Unless you are feeding from a 598DP or 800v3 player, you will not upsample DTS/DD soundtracks on the 568.2.

What source are you feeding the 568.2 with where the k is lower case vs. upper case?

Only 861V4 will upsample PL II. In fact, it upsamples all presets. (DD and DTS must be decoded by 598/800 first)

SO:
My souce is a 598DC smart linked to 568.2mm therefore I get upsampled CD as in streo direct Trifield but not PL2 what about DD or DTS?

When playing a DVD my DSP goes to PL2 should it be different should it be DD ect and what if it shows discret cinima are they upsampled?

Just watched a movie in PLII; the 568.2 (fed from a 598DP), showed 48k (little k). I don't think it was upsampling. I think the 'Big K' display might be true for the 568.2 as well as I have seen it from CD's and DD/DTS 5.1 channel DVDs.

800V3/861V3 and 568.2/598 will not upsample PL II.

Only 861V4 will upsample PL II.

OK so no psampling on PLII with 598/568.2 combo.
In that case as the Meridian stuff is equally movie music movie based system how do up get upsampled movie sound tracks?

Or is upsampleing only a music(CD) option?

You're a 2 ch set up ? What do you experience with DPLII in 2 ch ? I thought the whole point of DPLII was the multi-ch encoding ? Confused...
