I am trying to work out how I would manage the comms in the following (theoretical) 4-channel configuration:

Front left (master) and right DSPxxxx with speakerlink and BNC only comms only (i.e. no DIN).
Rear left and right DSPxxxx with DIN comms only.
5-series processor (controller) with DIN comms only.

Option 1:

Run an M5 from the processor to FL with the speaker end DIN replaced by a BNC.
Run CAT5 speakerlink from FL to FR.
Run an S5 from FL (or FR) to RL with the source speaker end DIN replaced with a BNC

Option 2:

Run an M5 from the processor to a DSP Reviver at FL into RJ45.
Run CAT5 speakerlink from FL to FR.
Run a DSP Reviver (comms only) to an S5 from FL or FR to RL.

Will these options work? Any better ideas that don't include AC12s or AC11s?

Hello Gianni.

I use mixed Speakerlink/DIN/BNC at the moment, though with a 5.0 system. I wanted to modify as few cables as possible so I did this :-

861v4 DIN to BNC on 7200 Master.(modified M5 cable)
Cat5e 7200 Master to 7200 Slave. (tell the Slave it's on SpeakerLink)
BNC 7200 Slave to BNC 5200HC.
BNC 5200HC to BNC Right rear 5200.
BNC 5200 Right Rear to BNC Left Rear 5200.

Thus I only needed to modify the M5 cable and put a BNC plug on the end. Then BNC all the way around the other speakers. I got the BNC cables from Maplins.

Regards
Shaun

Thanks Shaun.

I now have the following mixed comms setup working should anyone need to know alternative solutions:

- DIN from 568 to DSP centre master using M5.

- DIN from DSP centre master to DSP surround slaves using S5 with added female-to-female adaptor and 5-pin DIN-to-DIN lead from Maplins (to get the comms signal back to near the 568).

- BNC from DSP centre master to DSP left slave using BNC-BNC video cable from Maplins.

- Speakerlink from DSP left slave to DSP right slave using Meridian Speakerlink cable.

Did the DSP5500s or DSP5500HCs ever come with BNC comms connections?
