Greeting all,

I've done a quick search here to see if anyone else is encountering the same problem - can't seem to find anyone not without Apple in the equation. But, recently when I reintroduced, my NAS drive - which has the Sooloos backups on it keeps failing on the backups with "Backup Failed Unknown error". I'm just using a Windows XP PC - no changes in my Network; only that I've re-connected the NAS drive back.

I've just got the updated version of the ControlPC software as it said that the current version was out of date & must admit the last backups of fresh CDs were over 1 month ago so can't state for certain that it was working before the software update.

I've also noticed that I cannot use my iPhone 3Gs (OS V4) to access my Sooloos anymore even though I can ping the correct IP Address.
The Sooloos seems to fuction fine, in terms of sound output to the DSP system. Also checked the address on the devices in case the DHCP leases had expired - All OK.

I've also done the usual - in that, turned everything OFF, reset routers & switches tried the simple hop path, checked the network no issues with connectivity with the NAS device - I can send files no issue to the NAS so it seems a Sooloos issue. Has the software update knobbled anything?

Cheers,
Will

I've done two backups since the update - one to a NAS and one to a USB drive hanging off my PC. No errors with the former, but two or three errors as you described in updating the backup files to the USB drive. Just restarted the backup each time and it carried on from where it failed and eventually completed successfully. No problems backing up new rips since the previous backup.

I've had the same problem with backups. I spoke with someone at Sooloos and they are looking into the issue as they have heard same issue from others. Hopefully we will get a fix next week.

I not have any problems backing up with ControlPC so I suspect this issue may be limited to ControlMac.

My failures as described above were with ControlPC but were no more than an irritation.

I'm still having problems with ControlMac - not sure about others. The message is the same every time: "backup failed: unknown errors."

There is a broader Sooloos issue here. I posted that I was having backup issues. Meridian logged into my Sooloos and told me my Control15 FIOS was bust. They were immediately sending a replacement unit.

Now it seems there's a "wider issue" and in fact Meridian have stopped shipping Sooloos units until they fix it.

No date or fix time as yet or date for a replacement.

That's interesting news. I wonder if Rick can shed any more light on this?

Very interesting - my "backup" would get through 17+ CD's before failing.. then 2 CD's... now it fails before backing up a single CD.

Hello

I've had the "Backup Failed:Unknown Errors" issue for some time and also tried reinstalling ControlPC followed by a reboot of the Control15 to no avail.

Yesterday I was having problems gaining remote access to my work server and found the culprit to be that I didn't have the latest version on Java installed on my laptop (Sony Vaio running Windows Vista). I still got the "Backup Failed:Unknown Errors" message, post running the Java update, but after a further ControlPC reinstall and Control15 reboot the the backup function is working again.

Hopefully by now your problem is fixed but, as this seemed to be the only thread that mirrored my own problem, thought I'd post a reply as much for reference.

Clive
