I have owned my G68ADV for probably 5-6 years with absolutely zero issues. Recently, upon switching inputs, there was a loud noise which I can best describe as feedback coming from the speakers, lasting only a half second. The other night, it became much worse, having an almost pulsing character and probably close to 100dB in intensity and lasting until I muted the processor. It seems like a power issue and I've read that the power supplies don't last forever. Is there anything else that I can rule out before sending it away? Also, I remember reading about someone in the states who was doing repairs and had a much better turn around time than the factory.
Any help or insight would be appreciated.

My G68ADV did almost the exact same thing about a year ago. The broadband noise bursts blew one of my speakers.  My dealer sent the G68 to Meridian US, and they replaced the power supply. The original power supply was from Universal Microelectronics. The replacement was from XP Power. The XP power supply was a significant step down in sound quality, IMO. And the repair from Meridian was expensive. Very. I ended up removing the XP power supply and hired a modder to create a custom power supply, which I am very happy with. There is a recent custom power supply thread you may want to read before sending your unit back to Meridian. Bryon

Byron, thanks for the reply. I have sent the unit to Marc Koval in Atlanta. He's been recommended by several folks on this site. I will not be able to evaluate speaker damage until the processor is returned. Being DSP's, hopefully internal protection circuits protected them. I'll let you know how everything turned out when I get the unit back.

You are welcome, Rudy. If the power supply is in fact dead, what do you plan to replace it with?

Bryon, the processor's been sent to Marc Koval. I will wait to hear what his diagnosis is, then I'm sure he'll make a recommendation or two. I'll let you know what we decide.
