Ronnie,

I did change a piece of artwork on an album after your reqest on the 23 Feb. I have been keeping an eye on it and can report that the re-sized jpg files have not been updated with the new artwork.

I haven't re-booted my system during this time and don't know if that will force the system to re-create the lower sized jpg files.

I note that if I look at the database file for the album, it has flags for "HasCover" and "HasValidCover".

Then again, it also has a flag for "RequiresTranscodeForExport" but there are already transcoded MP3 files in the folder and the album has been exported to my iTunes.

I wonder therefore whether some of the flags in the database are redundant.

Regards,

Ian

I tried the same. First I checked, if the resized jpgs are the same as the cover.jpg. And yes they were the same, so Sooloos changed them after I changed the cover art.

Now I changed it to a wrong one and only the cover.jpg was changed, not the resized ones, even after restarting all components of the whole system. I keep an eye on the album and will check if the resized will change in future...

Just for the record.........

I carried out the same Cover Art test on the Sooloos System at the Meridian.......and the result was the same as described above.....i.e. the CoverResize files were NOT being changed after the main Artwork was updated

FWIW, there is zero logical reason why ANY Database would "wait" to make a necessary change to its Data........perhaps Milliseconds whilst Caches etc. are being refreshed

Meridian's Roland has taken a note to get the Developers to look at this whole section of Code related to Cover Art

More importantly than above, Roland is also going to request that the current "feature" of clicking "Update Metadata" resulting in your carefully Edited High Res covers being replaced by the AMG Low Res 197 pixel versions........and with this happening even BEFORE you click "Save" in the Edit Album screen

This has the potential to waste a lot of user's time........changing an Album's cover takes about between 30-60 seconds..........so you can do the maths for 1,000 to 5,000 Albums

Even Roland had noticed this frustrating feature on his own Sooloos system.......so it's encouraging to see that Sooloos will be looking to change this and soon

Ronnie, thanks for noting these issues here. It was helpful to get a good chunk of Roland's time on Saturday so thanks to him also.

At first glance a reader might think these two issues are not specifically about the new iPad app. However, they do directly impact the intended user experience. So, it is worth putting them together here when they specifically relate to the app.

Hi Ronnie,

Thank's for taking the time to discuss this with Roland, I hope Roland comes good and the Sooloos developers sort it ASAP.

Did you get chance to also discuss the Native Export issue that is also related to Album art work (albums with certain JPGs fail to export)?

Regards
Carl

Native export bug....oops....sorry I forgot to ask Roland about this one.

Rick had logged this a while back so we are still really waiting for HQ to respond to it.

Carl / Nick
I raised this issue (and the previous Bug List submitted thru Richard) with Roland

Roland took a note in his ubiquitous Blackberry to look into where these items stand

He wasn't even remotely familiar with the Export issue crazy

As we agreed on Saturday, it would be so much better if we could talk Directly to the Sooloos Developers about this..........routing these "quirky", difficult to explain issues thru Dealers into Meridian is not so easy
