I'm sure this has been answered here often (I couldn't find any threads), for a non-audiophile, movie watching lug like myself, how much better can a v4 861 sound then the 568v2?

Also, somewhat off topic. Can a v2 be upgraded to a v4?

Can't answer the first (other than vicariously).

As far as upgrade is concerned, the answer is yes but it would be much cheaper to trade the v2 for a v4 in the open market.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Is it really still possible for a factory upgrade from v2 to v4? I find that very unlikely.

I think it's unlikely, but it was possible. M were quoting up to 2,750 for the upgrade in 2005.

I doubt it's got any cheaper in the meantime, and hence my recommendation.

Oooooh, look. I've gone into 4 figures...

The subject of 861 upgrades has been discussed in the past coupla years. If my middle-aged brain hasn't become too addled, I believe a number of members (and maybe a dealer or two) had reported that Meridian had stopped offering v2 to v4 upgrades.

Happy Trails!
