I've been reading the 'new firmware' threads, and I'm still unsure what this new firmware will bring to my system.

I'm glad the Trifield issue has been fixed, but as I don't use a processor, this does not affect me.

I would appreciate it if someone could clarify what this update does, for a pair of 5200's.

Also, shouldn't I get a discount wink

Thanks,

It won't do anything, to be frank.

The 5k2s have apodizing already, and I'm not sure that M have changed the algorithm for this in the new firmware.

Thanks for clearing that up dpstjp!

It's not always clear in the other threads as to what was updated ie; DSP's and or Processor.

My Nephew has a 568.2 and 3 x DSP5000's..... I am also unsure from the previous threads, whether the new update improves the 5000's. Some reported hearing a difference, but it's not clear to me if this update is even relevant to the DSP5000's.

Thanks again,

What Firmware Version is currently on your DSP5200's??

They will not have Apodizing if the Version is prior to v1.3

Hi Ronnie, I bought these about 9 months ago and I'm pretty sure that they had the latest Firmware available at that time.

Is there a way to find out using the MSR+?

Thanks,

Steve, they already have had the 1.3 firmware update applied by me so they will already have the Apodizing firmware installed.
In your current set up you will not see any sound improvemnt by this new firmware upgrade. You can display the firmware version by pressing the display button on the MSR+ with the speakers in standby.

Thanks Tintin, is there a way to check which TYPE the DSP's are set at without changing the setting?
The nice guy who I bought these from set them up for me and I haven't had a problem, but for other reasons I would like to find out....
Thanks again

Hiya! I was 99% sure that you told me that you had installed the latest firmware.

Thanks again mate, they are wonderful speakers and I'm so glad that I kept them smile

If the 5ks are 24-bit I would upgrade.

18-bit 5ks can only be upgraded via EPROM, and I'm pretty sure that M have not announced these as being available...
