I am interested in an MC200 possibly with MS600 and I have some questions.
It sounds like Meridian wants the dealer networks to handle customer support but the 2 Meridian dealers nearest to me do not have the MC200 or MS600 to demo and quite frankly are not that knowledgable about the products (yet).
Good information here though.
1. I have read in some posts here that the MS600 will yield higher quality audio output than the MC200, maybe even in 808.3 or 861 territory. If that is true, to what do you attribute that to? Better analogue output section? Better power supply? The fact that it is does not share space with noisy computer components? Does it reclock the digital info from the MC200 to lower jitter? Something else?
2. The MS600 user manual is not 100% clear. Can it be connected via analogue outputs directly to amplifier(s) and function as a preamp with volume controlled by the iPad app or control mac/pc? If so is volume controlled in the digital domain?
Thanks, Al

Hi Al,
1) The MS600 performance is noticably better than the MC200, good as the MC200 is. I think you've covered most of the improvements in your questions! Think of it as an ID40 card in it's own case.
2)Yes its analogue outputs can be set as fixed, to go into an analogue pre-amp / integrated, or as variable, to drive a power amplifier directly. The volume is Meridian hybrid analogue/digital like their other products. A big step up from legacy Ensemble and Source products which I believe were digital only.
Cheers,
Rick
