That seems a bit mean given that Meridian have just released new firware upgrades for most of their customers (I acknowledge that many are unhappy about the length of time it took to fix Trifield; and some owners of older equipment are unhappy that they are not included in the upgrade).

Hmmm had a look for the "fill all empty space with music" button and it looks like the latest version of iTunes might have deleted this as an option.

My joy remains unrestrained.

Did you notice my earlier post? I suspect that your previous settings to fill the iPod from a playlist has been lost, and it's now trying to fill your iPod with the entire library. If that's the problem, the settings available in iTunes when you attach the iPod will let you select which playlist you want to sync with (i.e. not the whole lot!).

Well, I am sorry to hear that you aren't happy with the Apple products you have used. From my years of experience in the computer industry (9 years with two of the largest resellers to corporate and government sector) with product training in a vast list of major mfg of software and hardware companies, I can say that I wouldn't touch any other company's product that makes a hardware alternative. WHY? Less problems overall, better customer satisfaction. yeah, not everything is perfect and Apple could improve their iTunes software. I agree that they should support more file formats like FLAC and possibly others, but there is usually a work around for most issues.

Artwork, I usually only have problems with artwork on albums that aren't sold through the large distribution companies and I have to find them elsewhere and I wish that it would keep the artwork I paste into the track, but unfortunatley it doen't.

Now, Apple has a site that anyone can go to in order to give feedback, suggestions, etc. and many times they do actually come out with fixes, or new products to address my feedback, so it might be worthwhile speaking directly with the company rather than airing your frustration on a Meridian forum (just a suggestion). But then again, there are plenty of Mac fans that might be able to help out.

And in the mean time, if you use a Windows PC, see how much time and money is wasted dealing with IRQ, registry, driver issues, virus attacks and other problems that Windows is prone to. Apple users don't have these types of problems and thank Mr. Jobs and company for an alterenative where the software and hardware is designed and supported by the same company.

Not really. What Meridian did is what other companies do all the time without making a big fuss about it and will less customer inconvenience.

The equivalent behaviour from Meridian would be to say "Actually, we acknowledge some of the PSUs on G68s weren't up to standard. Anyone that bought one between x & y gets a free replacement, even though they're out of warranty. Our reputation is worth more than making an easy �300 for a �60 part."

I do like Apple hardware, but the software (iTunes etc.) is the devil. I upgraded my parents iPad to IOS5 and it genuinely took hours. Involved restarting services, reinstalling drivers, endless backups. Upgrading my Android tablet took 15 minutes and was entirely on the tablet itself.

For my brother's iPhone IOS5 upgrade he had to first upgrade the firmware on his router. I still can't work out what that was all about.

You can easily Embed Artwork into each Track of an Album........and iTunes will / should keep it there

I use Album Art Exchange for large 1000 by 1000 pixel (or larger) covers.......and then Copy / Paste them into the "Get Info" Dialog box of a Track or Album

Embedding the Artwork into each Track is recommended for portability between different players and systems

You can also use BlissHQ.com or Coverscout (or several others) to AUTOMATICALLY Find Albums with NO or SMALL Artwork........and Automatically Replace with 600pixel Square Artwork from Amazon & Google etc...........The Automatic is important, in that you can set it in motion on a large library at night and it will work away for several hours finding and embedding larger Artwork in your Music Library

The key point here is that iTunes will hold onto non-iTunes or "obscure" Artwork without any problem

Just so you know.........

The iOS v5 Update was a PITA.......compounded by some mistakes on Apple's behalf

Having said that it was the single biggest update carried out on Apple iOS Devices since they became available...........the biggest and best change is that it will allow "Over the Air Updates" in the future........just as Android devices always have

The iOS 5 Update also allows Wireless Syncing with your iTunes library, which is a big advance IMHO

So Apple screwed up in some ways, which were a hassle to many users......but the resultant advances are worthwhile

I use Pure Music with iTunes and the Halide Design Bridge connecting my MacBook Pro to the 861v6 and I love it. This setup was recommended by Ronnie and I love it.

I've also used Pure Music and others for a while. I found there are plenty of variables that affect the sound i.e. configuration of the hardware, mode of software operation, version of software, how long since reset and OS tweaking to name a few.

In the end the preferred sound in my system is achieved using Amarra 2.3.1 in play list mode although I still own Pure Music and others.

Like most things AV there are compromises that affect sound quality versus operability.
