Having taken stock of the new Mini Mac i7 2011 I have to say refreshing change from my PC except one ...

I can't get sound out of the rear channels tried everything .. has anyone had simular issues going from Mini Mac, HD621, Meridian & 568.2mm

I'd love your insight.

Still no rears it's decoding as MHR Music 6 96k. When it sends a test tone for all of the speakers no problem but say for example listening to Spottily no surround information is there any way to switch it to PCM?

It sounds like you need to take a look at the settings in the Audio MIDI Setup application in the Utilities folder. This allows you to set sample rate and word size, along with set the output type (where Encoded Digital Audio is generally one of the options), and setup the surround options using the Configure Speakers button.

Works for me. Im using Plex for movies, althoughs its not 96Khz

I have played a 5.1 hires FLAC file using VLC and that works ok as well.

The HDMI audio issue effected me, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I installed the patch last night and it seems fixed.

I think I will have to contact Apple.... I've tried encoded digital audio but to no avail 568 displays 48k no signal... this is a pain ....

People here can help you, but only if you give them more information......your posts so far have been singularly lacking in real information.

Have you tried 2 ch material over HDMI to the HD621 and 568........ if so, what does your 568 show?

What does the Audio Midi app show you about the Number of Channels and bit Depth?

What Multi Chanel material are you playing that results in the MHR Music6 96k display you mention above?

The more information you give us, the better chance we might be able to help

24 Bit, 5.1, 192K setup on the Mac Mini 2011 (late summer model) in the setup ... going to Meridian HD621 setup up correctly worked with my PC fine.

Meridian 568.2 controller flags it as MHR Music 6 96K but I only get 2.0 output.
It is the same for THX, Cinema, Discrete.

Ok, but what material are you playing that results in no sound from the Rear Speakers?

Also, you should close whatever Player you are using to play the Media, then adjust the Midi to 16bit, 48k and 5.1.

Reopen the Player and Play the File......... see what results you get.

Actually on closer inspection I've realised it only outputs stereo all of the time. Midi config is correct 6 channels 24 bit 192,000 as previously noted but I've have no surround for example if I listen to Spotify I only get left and right along with anything else non DTS/D.D related in other words Dolby surround encoded I only get stereo.

Using the appropiate player for 5.1 DD MKV is still get stereo.

Having D.D/D.T.S. is not my greatest concern most of that will go through the Oppo but I cannot figure to why sound won't emerge to all of my speakers and if infact anyone else has recently purchased a 2011 Mac Mini connected to a HD621 only to have the same outcome?

You say spotify, is this a multichannel source or are you saying Trifield isn't working.?
