I have just finished getting a stand made for my kit and am now trying to get it set up using the computer. Up to this point it was set up as a 5.1 system - DSP33/5000C fronts and analogue rears with a single D1500 running off the centre and worked fine. I have now attempted to reconfigure the system with stereo subs - and have wound up with none! The remaining speakers are working ok. The cabling is as follows:
568->centre Signal (3/4) & comms (master) to signal/comms inputs. centre->511 Comms only.
568->front left Signal (1/2), comms from 511 to signal/comms inputs. F left->F right Signal & comms outputs to signal & comms inputs.
568->Rears Rear analogue outs.
568->Right sub Signal (5/6), comms from 511 to signal input & inner comms socket.
Right sub->Left sub Signal out & outer comms to signal in & inner comms.
The settings on the left sub are: 1, flat, maximum gain. The settings on the right sub are: 2, flat, maximum gain.
In the congfig programme layout the: Fronts are 96/24 DSP small Rears are large analogue Subs two - left/right for music, logic & 5.1 movie.
In sizes the fronts aren't highlighted with max ticked, the subs are narrow, DSP with the level at 30 (although I had ticked max), rears are set to 17 with max spl at 109. The crossovers are set to 80 for music, logic & 5.1. Music LFE is off, 5.1LFE is 120. Phase/gain are all positive/0.
Connections agree with what I have detailed above.
When I did the initial setup (expertly assisted by Mr Meridian) I seem to recall typing the 568 as 5.1DDA, looking through the manual (p68) I can't see a type for multiple subs, so I have left it alone.
Can anyone shed any light on why I have no working subs?
They both worked as singles in the old 5.1 system & the leads were ok as well. Sorry for the essay - but I would imagine I have made a 'schoolboy error' somewhere & thought it best to include all the information.

Another Hiker was recently "wrestling " with this topic. There's a diagram of the two sub wiring. Have you wired as per that diagram ?
cheers

Yes, as far as I can tell. The manual doesn't give a layout for stereo subs being fed from the processor, but I am using the dedicated side/sub out on the 568 (comms from the 511) & daisy-chaining one to another. Could the fact that in mconfig/sizes they are set to 30, not max be a problem?

(Maybe I'm misremembering?)

Guys, it occurred to me today after posting earlier to Bayetta that the Legacy Programme might contain another, hitherto undiscovered bug....that it screws up when trying to run stereo subs.
We know that frame delay was lost in v2.215, yet it was still in the programme. However, it would lose signal from the 598 smartlink input if activated.
I'm not aware of too many people here running stereo subs, or perhaps they just run without any problem?
NickC, you mention that you have your subs connected to 5/6...is that correct? IIRC, 5/6 is for side speakers (ie 7 main channels) so would you get any signal from this in anything other than cinema presets? I think it was mentioned earlier in this thread that stereo subs connect to the main pair? (can't swear to that though)
Cheers
George

I think it was mentioned earlier in this thread that stereo subs connect to the main pair? (can't swear to that though) Only if you are daisy chaining, rather than have the processor doing the crossover. AFAIK.

@ Nic: The fronts are greyed out, but the subs aren't, although they are set to DSP & Narrow. I do wonder if this is a problem @ George: 5/6 is what is shown in the connections page in mconfig & I think it is labelled as side/subs on the 568.

In sizes the fronts aren't highlighted with max ticked, the subs are narrow, DSP with the level at 30 (although I had ticked max), I just did a quick test in the legacy config; and when I clicked MAX for the two DSP subs; the sizes were updated from 0 to 'max' not 30. Might be worth double checking this again. Regards, Carl

Don't know why, but for my 568 with stereo subs the configuration works fine. But when trying to duplicate it with a 568.2mm with 2.5b9 firmware it wold not work.

The 568 prior to v2.5 firmware works completely differently. The whole software architecture has been changed so much that you must think of a 568 and 568.2 prior to v2.5 as being a completely different machine to those at v2.5.
With v2.5, operationally the 568.2mm is a near identical twin of the G6x, or 861>v3.5. Whilst on the surface things look the same, everything changed with v2.5.

I am feeling very frustrated having gone from a single sub that worked fine to two, neither of which work. My original plan was to site a sub under each of the front R & L DSP33s. This has proved logistically impossible and they are now sited in corners, one pretty much behind the centre with the other to the left (approx 10'). I was curious to see what they sounded like as a stereo pair......hence the start of this whole fiasco.
In my attempt to change I have forgotten how I had the single set up - presumably if I return to this setup I can then daisy chain the second off the first and get a more even result. I would be very grateful if a kind h'hiker could explain to me how to get them working. As things stand I have a working front three speakers & rears (although when I went through the calibration test the centre seemed much louder than the front R & L) what I think would help is a step by step series of instructions how to add the subs, both in Mconfig, lead routing & what to do with the channel switches at the rear. Any assistance would be most gratefully received.

Might I suggest that you take a slightly different approach?
Daisy chain the D1500s off the feeds to the front L and R. Tell the processor there is no sub. Set the fronts to full range (i.e. Large DSP). Set the subs to the position for use with DSP33s.
That way you get the benefit of two subs, you avoid the problem of the 568v2.5 apparently not supporting the set-up and you get closer to the recommended Meridian ideal of no subs but full-range speakers.
