One of my tweeter drivers is making a horrible cracking sound, I have replaced the head unit with one from my rear pair and this works fine.
Is this likely to be a dry joint problem or will the tweeter need replacing?
Is it worth considering replacing the tweeter in the other front unit at the same time?
Any idea on repair lead times at Huntingdon these days?

I had my tweeter recently replaced on my Right front 8000 as it was blown and my Meridian dealer recommended that I replace the tweeters across the front, including the center channel. Dealer came home and did the job.

SReddy would you mind sharing how long it took your dealer to replace; how much were parts and labor; and if you are satisfied with your dealer's service.
thanks.

My dealer quoted just under $400 each for the Black Meridian Tweeter (part only).

What kind of Seas midrange and tweeter does the DSP8000.2 have?

Dealer came home and did the job. Why did he recommend that? Are the new tweeters sonically different from the old ones and, if so, to a degree that would be noticeable? Are the old ones more prone to failure?

Are the new tweeters sonically different from the old ones and, if so, to a degree that would be noticeable? They shouldn't be: Meridian applies fine-tuned DSP correction to the frequency response of the tweeter. I doubt there are multiple versions of firmware knocking around to cope with different tweeters.

Cost of two 8000 tweeters and one 5500HC tweeter was 650 with labor 150. Took a month for the parts. Breakin time 150 hours.
