Control 15 owners
Has anyone got a Control 15 and a stand alone DAC that displays the incoming data frequency ie 44/48/88/96kHz?
I'd really appreciate it if you could join the two units together by SPDIF and:
1) Play a 24/96 native resolution track on the Control 15 and note the incoming frequency signal lock on the DAC
2) Play a 16/44 native resolution track on the Control 15 and note the incoming frequency signal lock on the DAC
In both cases please ensure that the upsampling option on the Control 15 is not ticked to restrict to 1x upsampling.
Much obliged, Steve

If I leave "Force 1x Output Sample Rate" OFF and play a 24/96 file it shows 96kHz on my DAC, the 16/44 file shows 88.2kHz. This is on my late version Control:10, I'm 99% sure the Control 15 would be the same.
Basically, if I choose "Force 1x Output Sample Rate" everything plays as 44.1 or 48kHz. If I don't select "Force 1x Output Sample Rate" everything plays as 88.2 or 96kHz.

Hi Victor
Are you using SPDIF of an MSL / AES hybrid connector between the two units?
Incidently, on the device menu where you have the sample rate option, do you tick or leave blank the Meridian Integration box?
Very much appreciated! Steve

Hi Victor
Are you using SPDIF of an MSL / AES hybrid connector between the two units? I've used both and get the same results either way. I leave the "Meridian Integration" box unchecked. The Control:10 and TwinStores are my only Meridian equipment. With the Sooloos being my only Meridian equipment I don't think this setting makes any difference.

Thanks - I wonder if it's a software glitch in the new update from M ?? Unfortunately I hadn't tested the Control 15 in this way prior to updating Driving me nuts... maybe its just a Meridian thing... Thankfully I've still got my 2006 vintage Transporter on the rack

This has been consistent with my system with every software update for the last year. I think Meridian has it setup this way to easily integrate their older DSP speakers that can only play up to 48kHz.
When I first saw the way the "Force 1x" worked (everything at 44/48 or 88/96) I sent an email to Meridian asking for a "Play Native Resolution" option that would just play the files as they are without upsampling or downsampling, I guess that's not going to happen. It doesn't seem to hurt the sound quality having the Sooloos upsample CD quality files so I guess it's not a big deal.

"Did you uncheck the force 1x sample rate box?" Yes, I've tried it both ways, rebooting each time but no difference "I believe the NAD M2 does not show the Sooloos data at all...." Yes, for Redbook CD I get no rate confirmation. However, with the high definition tracks I do when I change the tracks - flashes up for 3 seconds ish

Thanks for your help guys - my situation has been duplicated by a fellow HH with the same results - I am now awaiting an email response from NAD....

Hi Steve,
Does the NAD claim to be able to support 196/24 via SPDIF / AES-EBU input?
Meridian once stated that 192 kHz support would be made via a firmware update. Yet we are told that the specification for these interface do not support these higher data rates.
I wonder where the true lies, I wonder if the electronic can do it but the "spec" forbids it!
