Dear all,
For those who don't know me let me start off by introducing myself. As my nick suggests my name is Richard Krol, I'm both a long time Meridian enthusiast as well as the owner of Hexateq, a company which specialises class D amps as well as bespoke electronics, stands and furniture. We manufacture for consumers as well as other firms as an OEM supplier. So my interests here are twofold.
Now, our first commercial engagement with Meridian was the F80 stand. I designed and manufactured this stand, approached Meridian and the ball started rolling from there.
We've also done several other stands, the most recent being the DSP33 stand. I'll insert links here later.
The reason for this thread is as follows: I've been contacted by a forum member to think about a bespoke design for the DSP3200. The factory stand is neat but I think we can do better.
I would be very happy however if I could get some feedback from (potential) owners of the DSP3200 as to what their requirements would be for such a stand. Personally I was thinking of designing a stand that would better integrate visually with the other DSP speakers as I can imagine the DSP3200 will end up being used as sides or rears or as a nice 2-way system. The idea is to come up with a stylish solution at reasonable cost. Think of it as a group buy for a yet to be custom designed product.
What do you guys think?
Cheers,
Richard

Richard,
Can't comment on the DSP3200 stand, but I would be keen to get a stand for my Control:10 so that it's readily accessible at the side of my sofa (rather than on the coffee table in front).
Is that something you'd be able to help with?

Hi Ian,
Absolutely, I'd be more than happy to work something out. It's probably best to contact me by email [in my profile] so we can go over your personal wishes and requirements.
Cheers, Richard

Hi Guys, Here's my first attempt at a T-shaped stand for the DSP3200 that follows the overall DSP range aesthetics. Basically, it's a high gloss or satin lacquered stand with a removable black satin steel base which can be removed for aesthetics or fixed if one worries about children or pets knocking them over. There would be a channel routed in the back leg that will discretely house the wiring. The image on the right which is a transparent top view should illustrate the fact that it's a T-shaped stand/tripod. Total height of the stand + speaker is 1000mm so the wideband unit should be at ear height when seated. The dimensions of the base are 320x330mm. The base itself is not T-shaped. Looking forward to your reactions. Kind regards, Richard

Dear Richard,
Interesting attempt, Is this a closed "box" construction? It seems to be.
Can you add nominal dimensions?
What is the nominal weight of the stand?
Regards and Thanks,
I

Hi,
Sorry if it's not entirely clear from the images. I've edited the post.

Hi Richard A very Elegant design IMHO
If I was in the market for D3200's, personally I think these would make a much better companion than the Meridian Stands and the support aspects look just as functional
I wish you all the best with these!!! You deserve it IMHO

These are very smart Richard. Elegant certainly. Aesthetically pleasing.
A very effective floor-standing option. Would the speakers bolt on and what happens to the cavity?
Cheers Tintin

Hi Tintin,
The idea is to use the spikes of the speaker but to use one of them upside down and use the freed up thread to secure it to the stand.
On second thought, I think we should offer it in satin initially to keep cost down and finish quality high.
The cavity remains as it's a T shaped design. One could leave out the steel bottom plate.
Cheers,
Richard

Nic,
recommend the guest-house "The Fluffy Pillow" on the road out to the east (IIRC). Fantastic breakfast.
Hope you get sorted.
