Having an active Meridian dealer very close by helps alot and this is our hobby we are talking about It's not set in stone as there are more things to consider than outright audio performance, placement is always a hard factor. But I would be surprised if anyone strongly suggested moving places by more than 1 step in the list though.
DSP8000SE, DSP7200SEHC, DSP5200SE sides, DSP7200SE rears, 861v8, 210, Sim2 Ultranero 4, Stewart Cinecurve 2.35:1, XEIT CM-5E Anamorphic lens, Dune HD Duo Cinema 8K and Wireworld Platinum 48G HDMI -> UHD722 -> Shunyata Omega Ethernet. Shunyata/Furutech power-cables/filters. SR Master Fuse@861v8. Uptone Etherregen with 10MHz OCXO clock.

I've also heard almost all of the DSP's on the above list and largely agree with Crion's listing
If I was to quibble, I'd probably put the D5K2 Vertical above either of the D5K5 versions, as a Centre Speaker.........there might also be a debate about the D6KVC versus the D7K2VC, even though I'd marginally come down in favour of the D6K.
Semantics though.
I'd also echo Crion's point about the Horizontal DSP's.........IMHO the only Horizontal DSP that get close to mimicking the performance of its Vertical brothers is the D7K2HC.
While the Part Numbers might be similar, the D5KHC and D5K2HC are quite a different speaker to their Vertical counterparts.
I'd also agree with George that the D5K5HC is a more pleasant speaker to listen to than the D5K5VC.
One other point to note is that the D3100HC is quite a bit bigger (18.5in to 15.3in) than the D3100VC.......which in turn makes it quite a good DSP for Centre and some Surround duties, where Space and Orientation issues are a concern........I'd try to buy 2 by D3100HCs for Surround rather than 2 by D3100VCs.

Hi
Start from the beginning. I used to own a pair of D6Ks in the old days late 90s then only in a stereo set-up. I moved away from the M solution due to the fact that I wanted to test more gear and a full digital solution was not very flexible in that regard. The worst decision ever....
In 05 I had to return to M again after having missed the M sound and the D6Ks. They are still the most memorable speaker I have ever owned. Finally I have got my final setup as I tell my wife-to-be with some compromise. D7K2s, D5K2HC, D3K2 and no sub yet -> through a G61RSL. In my room which is around 18sqm rectangle shape - this is quite strong combination and work on final acoustic treatment is commencing.
I have not had the pleasure to listen to all the different centers, but I have a lot of experience with D6KVC, D7K2HC and D5K2HCSL and without SL (having used that in a Trifield setup with the first D5K2)
1 I see no comparison with the D6K and the D7K2. They are conceptually totally different. In my mind the grunt of the D6K can only be matched by the D8K on all other aspects the D7K2 is superior. Imaging, pace, dynamics, timbre etc. Someone might disagree, but that is honestly my opinion.
2 I have to agree with Ronnie the D7K2kHC is supreme. We tested it in my small room and it integrates with the rest of the system in a way the D5K2k can never do. If you have the space and funding for it, I heartily recommend that you choose the former. When that is said I must say that I am still very happy with the performance of my current system and the D5K2HCSL is doing a great job.
3 Coming to the list: IMHO a similar VC will always outperform a HC combination if one has the opportunity to use it.. In the list putting a D6KVC in front of the 7K2s seems very strange They are a magic speaker agreed, but I wouldnt match the D6K with anything but D6K in a front row they are to unique (listened to a three line D6K last week) and love the sound, but they could never integrate with the D7K2s. Honestly IMHO the D5K2SL does a better job with them.

Hi Crion,
It appears you have a lot of knowledge.
One of the posters earlier in the post, I believe it was Fiddler, inferred that the 6000C is different than the 6000 L and R? I have on order two centers, with sequential serial numbers that are apparently the same on the inside as the standard R and L 6000's. I have researched this everywhere on this site and most people concur that the difference is purely visual. Additionally, I have purchased them from a very forthright and experienced Meridian guy who I trust.
Is Fiddler talking about something different? I like the look of the center channels for L and R speakers more. I don't like the gold line and like Plato I like symmetry.
One other question is for a pair of 6000's for HT, is a 5200HC worth the extra money over a 5500HC? I have a pair of 5000HC's in the rear mounted on the ceiling. I don't have the space for a vertical center nor a place to stand the 5000's in the rear.
Thank you very much!
G91A, DSP6000, 3x 5000's :), 2x F80's, Sonos, Pono
