Got 5 of them working right now.
1 on subwoofer 4 on side and rear surrounds.
Need to find a way to test difference with AC-12, but the simpler wiring method is a winner for me already. nice and clean RJ-45 runs to each speaker from the processor and that is it. No funny looking wires hopping from one speaker to the other.

I did some short listening tests.
I cannot hear a difference between the AC-12 and the Reviver. Tested it with a pair of DSP3100 conneted to a 861v6 and a 800v3 as source.
Got 5 of them running right now and playing DVD-A, SACD and Bluray multi channel music on them, and it sounds great.
Setup:
Oppo BD-83 -> HD621 -> 861v6 SL to 3 x DSP5200 front SL to 1 reviver that connects the SW1600 SL to 4 revivers that connect the DPS3100 sides and rears

Have listened to multi channel music some more. The Revivers work very well, in operation I never had issues and they sound great (well, they not do anything to the sound i guess)

Can the reviver be used to convert SPDIF Coax signals to transmit on Cat5 and be reconverted to SPDIF at the other end (a second reviver) or do you need at least one speakerlink product? Cheers Chris

Excellent question Chris. I wouldn't mind to know the answer of that too.

Chris,
of coarse its possible, no problem. But before Iam glad to sell the reviver, i will inform you about the technical issues.
I mean i understand what are plane. Use the Ac12/reviver interface to change from SPDIF to SL and use the advantage of that signal(like higher amplitude and one cable).
Instaed to have the old communication/SPDIF layout you can use a simple star layout even only with "old" equipment. Further you get on every component the SAME audio quality and that for reasonable costs.
Exact that besides other issues I want to get "officially" measured and confirmed. I go end of this week with my 800v3, the 861v6 ,AC12 and revivers to the manufacturer of the reviver. The plan is to make technical measurements and documantations.
The scedule is to measure the "quality" of the audio signals SPDIF/SL for:
a)800v3 (native rate/upsampling/"special"upsampling b)861v6 (native rate/apodising) c)booth variants with a test CD and with a professional test generator d)connection with AC12 e)connection with reviver f)your issues SPDIF>SL>SPDIF with different sampling rates
Chris,I dont expect any trouble at all, I expect at least a slightly improvement or same quality. But to have a good feeling and get a technical and listening information/data, you should wait untill the test are done. Then you have qualified information/data from a professional studio equipment manufacturer, not only just from me. Other HH(thanks here again for your suggestions) ask me for that application some weeks ago and so i get this idea to use the reviver also for that kind of application.
I know, I have no reputation as a supplier for high tech stuff, so you only can trust my words and much more important the experiences of the HH what bought allready my revivers. As iam a technication allways have to have measurements to "live", this measurements are important for me. At the moment I have "only" the comparement of the AC12 to the reviver itself, what of coarse are the most important data. And I have listening tests for that too, but not on a scientifical base. I didnt puplic that all, as that are not qualified in a scientifical sense.
So wait untill the test are done to get measurents/tests. Of coarse, its not forbitten to order now ;-))
What exactly application are you looking for ?
Sorry that the data are not available right know, but mid to end of next week all should be done.
Robert

Thank you for your answer Robert. I dont have a specific application for myself now, but am thinking of how to set up a Sooloos in my home and the details of placement in relation to my main Hi-Fi set up. The thought occured to me that if two revivers were a possible solution, the need for expensive digital cables would be removed and other components with SPDIF outputs could be placed closer to the listening position. CD, Squeezebox Radio etc. I await your test results with interest as I save up for Sooloos and probably one reviver to acompany it. A big win would help here lol Chris

Hi Robert
I am slowly rolling out structured cabling through my house currently on as needed basis. Instead of point to point, I am thinking of installing a central patch panel then wiring rooms to that. So far I have only considered network but balanced audio also opens up other possibilities.
Also, do you know if there is protection if balanced audio accidentally connected to network as a central patch panel handling both types increases possibility of accidental cross plugging.

Cheers Chris You can send practically anything over Cat5; do a search for 'Cat5 baluns' Here's a Link to examples of what can be cheaply done. Steve.
