Hello.
A few days ago I hooked up my Meridian 861v6 and HD621 after I have been using a Pioneer SC-LX83 for a while. When I loaded Toy Story on Blu-ray I noticed a strange thing. Sound that was supposed to come from the center came in the left channel, and left channel came inn the center. I checked the wiring and I hooked up the computer to run some test tones. It was correctly wired and on other Blu-ray discs it plays correct. Also tried with the new James and the giant peach, and the same thing happened to that movie. Is this a known issue or is it only in my setup.
Used a Philips BDP9600 and hooked up a Pioneer LX91 also to see if it was the player; same thing with that player.
How in earth can this happen?

Hi Joern,
Sounds odd, can you answer these questions so we have a little more information to go on.
If you play these two troublesome discs on your PS3 do you get the same results? Can you confirm that your PS3 connected via HDMI to HD621?
When you hooked up the computer to play test tones, was this via HDMI in to the HD621?
Is the HD621 connected to the 861v6 via MMHR (CAT6 with RJ45 connectors).

Hello Carl,
All sources are connected to HD621 and HD621 is connected to 861 with MMHR. Using a standard Ethernet cable. I played the test tones via the Meridian Program connected to 861 with RS232.

The test tones from the controller just tell you the connection between it and speakers are fine, play a test tone from a set up section on a disc.
No Darling, I've had it months!

Hi again Joern,
So, we know your speakers are connected up to your 861 correctly. Good!
As you're using MMHR from HD621 into 861v6, this is unlikely to have issues, but it is worth trying another patch cable, just in case.
Please do what GlzzE has requested but can you do this on your both Pioneer BDP-LX91 and Sony PS3. This will help to identify if it a player issue or something else.
And also let us know the result from playing your troublesome discs in both of these players, as per my previous post.
Regards, Carl

All sources are connected to HD621 and HD621 is connected to 861 with MMHR. Using a standard Ethernet cable. Well there is more than one type of 'standard' Ethernet cable. For a start a patch cable will be wired differently to a crossover cable. Suggest you look at the colours in each end of the plug - if they are in same order at both ends you have a patch cable, if they are different order then you probably have a crossover cable. See if swapping to the alternate type makes a difference. Just my thoughts, no experience of MMHR.

I will try to find some time this evening and try the different things to see if I can find the problem.

Sometimes a man can not figure things out, but in this case I first tried with the DVE BD-testdisc and found the same problem, so my attention went towards the cable between the HD621 and the 861v6 MMHR input. I switched to another cable, and the problem went away. The wiring in the cable looked identical in dim light, but who cares as long as it is working:) Thanks for the help guys!

Glad you sorted it.
Most likey the first cable was an Ethernet crossover cable, there are not used so much these days as ports on LAN switches, cards, ... are auto-sencing. I'd mark it up so it does not not get used in error.
