I recently changed my 596 for a 598. Now, I get quite a few digital pops, clicks and whistles (for want of better terms!) when I start, stop or pause a film.

I used to have similar noises when I owned a 565 but these disappeared when I changed to a 568.

Does anyone else experience these with the same combo? It's definitely film-only & not CD, so perhaps its related to that DTS-delay setting, though I am certain it happens also on DD films.

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks - Paul

There seems to have been a rash of such comments recently usually with a 598/568.2 combo - check out the postings by eddiewww for example. Speculation was that the 568.2 was the cause - your observation makes it more likely that the 598 is guilty. Is the problem heat related?
I hope Meridian get to the bottom of this as I was thinking of doing just what you have done and getting a 598 in place of my 596 and then upgrading my 568 to .2 status - maybe its time to think again

Hi there

I also have a 598/568.2 combo and do hear sound quite load 'clicks' BUT only when loading a CD after.

This does not happen all the time but I would 50% of the time, dont seem to get any other noise at any other time though.

So not much help to you be that my experiance, apart from that I find the combo very, very good and I'm very pleased with my system.

Hi Guys,
Hopefully next week I will see/hear a 598 into my 568.1 (596 going back due to the "no disc" errors). In the last two weeks I have also had 3 moments of audio drop out...something I thought was cured. This is maybe due to the same 596 issue that causes "no disc" (who knows)

I'll post back whether I get any clicks etc after a reasonable run in time.

Nick
