It was suggested that I could hook up my Sooloos Control 15 via the comms to my non SL G68J.

I am running a cat6 cable from my C15 to a Reviver. Then Robert very kindly made an adapter to go from the DIN comms out of the reviver to the BNS commection on the HD621.

I am abviously getting some connection as when I use the MSR to turn off the system, the C15 goes from play to pause, but I get no other communication.

Do I need to push different buttons or is there something that I need to do in the programming?

Hi Dolf,

Try pressing the AUX key on the MSR as this source is the one that Sooloos systems are configured to react to by default.

Regards,
Carl

By shear coincidence that's how I have it set up.

Hello Dolf,

Nice to hear that it works.
Which communication or display are you looking or missing?
Maybe a stupid question, but did you try to hold the function key and push other buttons?

Robert

Hi Robert,

There is no such thing as a stupid question or suggestion for this luddite.

I tried to hold the function key while pushing an asortment of other possible buttons, but nothing works except going from play to pause when I turn off Meridian on the MSR.

It would be nice if the C15 turned on and off or at least standby to on and vice versa with the on/off switch on the MSR. If I could skip a selecction with the MSR that would be superb.

At the very least, all the Sooloos control devices and softwares should be able to control all the Meridian devices which are connected to COMMS, to the same degree that the MSR+ can, don't you think?

Hi Nic,

That was my hope, but the Canadian Distributor did warn me that this would only work with an ID40, so I appreciate that I am working on a long shot at my own risk.

Dolf,

the only command is pause and play what you can do with the MSR?

Can you try that in that order please.

Press the button display or hold function and press the display button -
what happened then?

Try press the clear button in standby ,
doing that standard procedure, the controller should display "controller" and the "other" equipment "n.controller".Is there any display or reaction on the C15 ?

Can you config the G68 to automatic or n. controller,
what happened then ?
After doing that, can you turn it on via the MSR pointing to the c15 ?

The connection reviver/cat5/DIN240degree is the same as an C-lead in your case.
So whatever M have "enabled" on comm commands have to work.
I dit replace my C-lead between my 800v3(com) and 861v6(SL) with the reviver/cat5/M-DIN and all the commands are working as with the C-lead.

If really everything will fail and you have no sucess at all,
you can think about remote the G68 over a RS232 device via the MCommand programm.
I dont know which small device can give you Rs232 commands.
But when you want do to that, you can go with a second cable to the G68 or over the cat5 cable to the G68. For that a simple adapter from the RS232 device to the cat5 cable or reviver is necassary.
I can make you that for free if you want to go that way.

Robert

Thanks Robert,

Press the button display
Nothing happens

or hold function and press the display button -
what happened then?
G68 display says: Soolo PCM 2-Ch 88k

Try press the clear button in standby ,
Nothing happens, I know what you are trying to do here and have seen it done but it is not working for me.

I won't go any further until I get this step clarified.

Hi Dolf,
A Comms link between a Control15 and G68 should work with volume, pause/play/stop and track forward/back passing both ways.

It sounds like the cable is OK if the standby paused the C15, have you set the Aux input's Comms type to 4C? The G68 guide has instructions for doing that.

A C15 doesn't go into standby with the Comms zone because it may be acting as the Core or Store for other zones, if it shut down those other zones would stop too.
