I thought this had already been mentioned but as I cannot see it after a brief scan on this thread I will mention a word about Grade-B kit, but apologies if this had already been taken on board.

There are a number of ex-factory 'as new' items described as Grade-B by Meridian themselves sold through their dealerships. I know of a number of HHers who have bought grade-B stock, only to open the box and find everything 'perfect, complete and as new'.

So I would not dismiss an item described as Grade-B although it may be worth getting a few assurances over its parentage and condition.

Some of the European distributors seem to have a few new units in stock guys. Can any of you confirm that if I buy from any of these guys that there is no difference in the F1 they supply than the one I would have bought in the UK. No different frequency tuner / radio, uk plug bla bla bla ? Just trying to convince myself that I'm safe buy from somewhere in Europe !

Also if a fault developed in the F1 what would my procedure be in getting it fixed ?

Thx !

I got a reply from one of the distributers and he said.....

About the warranties Meridian will only cover it in the region where the unit was first sold. The unit will be delivered with a UK mains cable.

Even considered buying one and getting a new top from Meridian therefor changing it to the colour I want.

M80 getting closer !!!! I assume there is absolutely no difference in the F and M apart from the way it looks ?

One of the distributers will sell me 4 brand new sealed units for a reasonable price if I buy all four. There is Black, Yellow, White and Silver. I would like the black one so if you'd be interested in any of the other colours PM me and I can tell you the price. If we could get four buyers for the four units that would be great but to buy just one from them is very expensive. Let me know asap please anyone who would consider buying a new sealed F80. Trust me these things new are likes hen's teeth because I have tried virtually everywhere. Just another option guys....

Let me know if your interested !

Try Harrods. There was a yellow one all alone yesterday. May have other colours. No idea on price. Very little was priced up-I guess some Harrods departments (particularly the Micro Anvika concession) don't want your business if you need to ask it's price to know if you can afford it wink

Hi Ian

I was there a couple of weeks ago and saw 4 F80's all at full RRP.

However, those huge silver 6ft tall things were discounted from 200,000 to 140,000 so it does go to show that deals can be had wink

Hi Ricky,

I would say that they (the Harrod's F80's) looked very tired so to be honest Ricky I'd just get a price on a new M80 and be done with it. Buy from somewhere that will give you after sales support too (so forget buying from Europe unless you travel there or are going to be happy with next to zero after sales). This will help you create a longer term relationship with a dealer which may save you more in the long run than chasing 100 or 200 now.

IIRC I've given you some dealer pointers in the past. Suggest you make some calls. There are deals to be had.

cheers

Nick

Nick,

You know what..... its time I finally listened to you. LOL.

I have now given up my search for a new F80 ! At the time I was emailing dealers many of them came back to me saying we don't have anymore F80's but can do you a good deal on an M80. So I have just placed an order with the dealer that gave the best price on an M80 and am going to try to start as you say Nick 'to create a longer term relationship' with the dealer in question.

So needless to say I have now contented myself with the thought of the M80 and can't wait until I receive it !!!! Roll on the 4th of January for Meridian to open again.

Thanks for all the advice guys, and if anyone for what ever reason wishes to look about any of the F80's I have been talking about from the distributor PM me and I will give you all the details I have.

Thank you all !!!!!

There is a graphite F80 on eBay at the moment from Peter Tyson, 1000 or best offer. The graphite finish can look quite dark if it's not in direct light.
