question:

I want to set-up my DSP3100 speakers for Side and Rear Surround.

I seem to only be able to select Left, Center, Right, Left surround or Right Surround.
There is no option for Left Side or Right Side i could find.

Anyone can help me what to set-up for sides ?
My thoughts would be that it just need to pull the correct audio from the SPDIF (Left or Right)
But on the comms side ther could be more i guess.

They will be connected to a 861v6 with either a AC-12 or a competing product.

Jaco,

I mean its allways the same-
you can select one of two channel of one audiostream.
So for R/L- its called L
for CENTER/SUB- its called C(I have to check that)
for S.L/S:R-its called S.L.

So the type only tells the speaker its a master or slave and
which audio channel -number one or number 2- the DSP should accept.

Can somebody confirm that?

Robert

Robert has it right -

I used to run DSP33s as Sides.

They were set up as SR and SL and as long as you feed Sides signal from Processor to Master DSP33 you're ok.

NOTE! If you are using DIN comms and AC12 you have to modify the M-cable connection to AC12 to get Slave comms (volume) to the second DSP33 of the pair.

If you're using BNC comms you're ok.

They not want to work together with my 5200 speakerlinks front speakers..

3100 set them type-6
all 3100 slave
controller to none (also tried auto)

As soon one is switched on, all but the master 5200 do not work anymore.

So i made 2 of them type-5 hooked a s-lead up and attached a DVD player. That works fine as i make one master and controller.
So the units both work it seems.

Than tried a config with a pair of 3100 speakers connected to my 861v6 with a AC-12
Both speakers switch on. They repsond to volume. but i get no sound.

- I assume they need to be type 6 )home cinema setup)
- also making a pair of them and hook them up to my 861 should make them work
(861 is configured with 2 pair of 3100 speakers only now)
master 3100 is hooked up to the Left master connector on the 861.
slave 3100 is hooked up to master 3100 with normal S-lead
AC12 to master 3100 is a modified M lead.

any suggestions ?

Otherwise dealer has to come and sort it out i guess.

861 is Type-2.
It was at my first test set as all analogue,so no wonder that failed.
Now typed to type-2 and fetched that back.

Both the pairs work if i make one master and hook the op to the Left and Right connection on the 861

So it seem the AC-12 and the DSP3100 do work, only not when i have them all as slave.

Pair-1 now front left and right playing
Pair-2 as rear surrounds do not come on line.

When i swap over the cables and make the right speaker (connected to the master interface onthe 861) the master that pair works as well.

Have you tried connecting comms using BNC not DIN?

AC12 master BNC --> Side left BNC --> Side right BNC.

My 5200's are connected that way and worked on first try.

From my AC12 Blues period I recall having problems using DIN comms to Surround speakers.

I could now get 2 times a 3100 to play using the AC12 with modified M-lead to 1st speaker and s-lead to 2nd.
That works for both pairs if i use them as L+R

Only thing is to get them working all 4: 2 as fronts and 2 as backs. Only the fronts will play. Rear ones do not switch on.

I have no BNC cables otherwise i would try these. But as i wrote i got both sets working if uses alone.

So it must be a setting in the 861 or the DSP3100

Sounds like you forgot the s-lead back from the 2nd front speaker to the AC-12 (to indicate the 1st one is master), or do you have a center speaker that is master in your system (not described in your post)?

[off-topic]Good to hear that you are finally hooking up your system![/off-topic]

I seem not to get them working besides one pair.

I have 2 5200 and 1 5200 VC that are working, but i hooked up the 3100 and nothing happened.
So i thought lets first try and test if the 3100 would work (great help of Robert W)

In my end situation i will have left 5200 speaker as master, and all others as slaves.

The 3100 units will need to work as slaves:
- 2 in a pair using a AC12 (861 - RJ-45 - AC12 - Modified M5 - 1st DSP, S5 - 2nd DSP
- every unit with a Reviver.

It seemed so simple: 861 typed to something for DSP speakers (2 for smaller speakers), and all the DSP speakers to type-6 (for use in a surrund system)

And i have sound on all speakers now.
retyped the 861 to 2 and later to user-1 in which is my complete speaker setup defined, just to see if the DSP's at least come out of standby.

They now all seem to work with the AC-12 units. So my dealer (Beter Beeld en Geluid) made the correct cables.
1600 sub runs via a Reviver unit but that always worked flawless from the start.
