My 861 v4.2 started shutting off and now it won't power up anymore. I was told that it was probably the power supply. Has anyone else had this problem?

Rafael,

I had the same problem with my 861 v4.2. I sent it back to Meridian USA and they replace the power supply. So far it is working flawlessly. The cost was $850.00 plus shipping and the turn around was about six weeks. BTW this was the second power supply replacement. The first one was back in 2005.

Regards,

Jim

If you check these boards, you will see that the power supply is the achilles heel of these 800 series components - or at least it is in some of the older ones. I recently had my 800 back at Meridian for a ROM drive replacement and asked them to replace the power supply as the unit was just coming to the end of its warrant period.

I had 3 PS replacements on my 861V4 and 2 on my 800V3, before getting the 861V6.

Fingers crossed that M redesigned the PS in V6!

Geir,

While my 861 v4.2 was in the Meridian USA repair shop, they mentioned the power supply in the 861 v6 is a new design, which is supposed to be more reliable. The new PS is being installed in older 800 series equipment, which is what they installed in mine. So I have my fingers crossed that it is more reliable. For what it's worth, Meridian also mention the new PS is used in the G series as well.
