Does anyone have experience of using this card on a projector with in-built DCDi?
I have a 800V3, and am tempted to think that Meridian's implementation may be better than that on my Sim2 HT300. Am I wrong?

I use the VE10 Progressive Card in my 800 V3 feeding a SIM2 HT300 projector.

After upgrading the HT300 to Version 2.07.04 of their firmware, (which makes it better able to handle a 32kHz Progressive signal,) I find that I prefer the 800 Progressive output from the 800 rather than feeding the 800 interlaced output into the HT300 and letting that do the de-interlacing.

I only have the card for about 2 weeks and I have not done enough back to back testing of specific movie scenes, but I have found the 800 Progressive output offers greater depth, background and shadow detail, and just overall a more “pleasing” picture. However the difference is not night and day.

I don`t have enough specific knowledge of exactly how the VE10 card works, but my superficial understanding is that the card operates in the “digital” domain (really not sure of that), but that basically it has more “information” about the upcoming frames to be better able to make decisions about what processing to apply.

I`ll leave it to people with more knowledge to expand on that aspect of things, but basically the SIM2 HT300 has to “react” on the spot, so to speak, while the VE10 card has more time and information to react.

I have read something on this board about PAL Progressive 576p being available from this card after “updating” it, so I`ll have to find out a bit more about that.

I'm sorry, but when I upgraded my 800 series to V3, I also got Meridian to install the VE10 card.

They then supplied the 800 with the card installed and ready to use. Therefore, I can't be of of help on how to configure it.

If you find out more, you might post on your success or otherwise in getting Pal 575p Progressive to work, and the instructions on how to do so.

Sorry I can't be of more help
Ronnie

All you should have to do is slide it in next to your VE00. You shouldn't have to touch the software if you already have the VE00 listed under cards. There is not a VE10 card to add to the software. All your software should list is 1 VE00 whether you have the VE10 card installed or not. If you then go into the 800 setup menu you will find a progressive menu at the bottom.

Thanks for the info.
I have ordered a VE10, and interestingly my dealer found that a progressive 598 showed some improvement over the DCDi implementation in a HT300+, so I am really looking forward to trying the card.

Just to update for those curious. I had a Firehawk and VE10 installed. Whilst the Firehawk helped my HT300 a reasonable amount, the impact of the VE10 card was astonishing. The increase in detail, in 'naturalness' left one feeling as if one were looking through glass. It is certainly cinematic in terms of totally immersing oneself in the experience. Sadly it makes a mockery of the price of the Firehawk in the UK!
