A bit off Meridian really, but I wondered if anyone else had noticed...... I was listening to the recently (2009) remastered version of the Rolling Stones album 'Sticky Fingers' when I heard a loud digital click in 'Brown Sugar'. I was listening on headphones at the time, so I checked whether it could be heard on my M set-up - it could. I couldn't see any mark on the CD so was a tad disappointed.

I then listened to the remastered 'Rolled Gold' CD - and, the digital click was on 'Brown Sugar' on there as well! I went back to my earlier copy of 'Sticky Fingers' - yup, you guessed. The click is at the end of the first line of vocals: "Gold coast slave ship bound for cotton fields" - pretty much in the word 'fields'.

I put the track in Nuendo (wave editor/sequencer), cut a tiny fraction out with the editing tools - hey presto, no click. Hmm, how much do these guys get paid for mastering......

I would be interested to know if anyone else has heard the click - and would be interested to know if anyone has a vinyl copy or download with a click.

Cheers,

Woods

Is it at 32 seconds. I hear it, is it a digital click or just general noise in the mix.

This was on my F80, it doesnt spoil it for me as the rough sound is part of the appeal.

Just thoughts, Chris smile

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

Not digital
Probably static on the analogue master.
