I purchased my Meridian DSP5200HC speaker new in February 2006 from Audio T in Camberley (no longer a Meridian dealer!).
Yeserday, I noticed a 'slushing' sound coming from the right speaker, with no sound emitting (everything seems fine with the left hand and tweeter drive units).
The back of the cabinet behind the affected drive unit appeared very warm to the touch and I switched it off.
I am no expert, but my suspicion is that something is wrong with the amplifier module that powers the right hand woofer.
Has anyone had any recent experience with contacting Meridian (they used to be very good with end users years ago but seem to have withdrawn from customer contact) with regard to examination/repair.
I would have approached Audio T to return my speaker (I still have original box/packing) but as they no longer have the M agency, would probably point me towards the door.
I appreciate that after four years, my DSP5200HC is out of warranty, but every Meridian item I have ever owned (from 1978) has always been very reliable and for a premium price product, I would not have expected my centre channel to have developed a fault within this time frame.
Any comments re Meridian after sales service/repair would be welcome before I pick up the phone!
