Thanks Rick, I assume the Control 15 is the next generation Sooloos system that people are talking about being released at CEDIA? You mean at Atlanta in September? Yes I guess so. Rick

Small DSP3200 - a little smaller than the DSP8k head unit. The familiar industrial design shape. Shelf -stand- wall mountable Speakerlink ONLY Uses full range HF unit (as in F80) and single bass unit Additional subwoofer will be available Centre speaker will become available later with 2 bass units and full range HF. SpeakerLink only?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is Meridian insane? Making its entry-level speaker locked to a 400 AC12 or Meridian SpeakerLink processor? Lost for words!

It would seem a bit narrowminded, yes... And severely limit the applications of this new monitor...
DSP8000SE, DSP7200SEHC, DSP5200SE sides, DSP7200SE rears, 861v8, 210, Sim2 Ultranero 4, Stewart Cinecurve 2.35:1, XEIT CM-5E Anamorphic lens, Dune HD Duo Cinema 8K and Wireworld Platinum 48G HDMI -> UHD722 -> Shunyata Omega Ethernet. Shunyata/Furutech power-cables/filters. SR Master Fuse@861v8. Uptone Etherregen with 10MHz OCXO clock.

You think they will keep selling sources/pre-amps without speakerlink connections ?

Exactly: it's totally consistent with Speakerlink-only outs on the processors. It would be unfair to call it strongarming of the user-base, but we are certainly mostly all obsolete here now...

But they are needlessly adding 400 per stereo pair for non-Meridian customers that might be tempted to buy into the Meridian DSP proposition whilst keeping their existing non-M kit.
Edit: It's actually the 500 AC11 that's needed, isn't it? This is obviously a conscious strategy, but it seems bold to the point of recklessness to exclude a massive potential customer base.

Unless the AC12 suddenly becomes 50 it's going to certainly limit their application. I would have thought that having options that lead to greater sales volume would be the way to go. Unless of course the price of the AC12 is set to compensate for those lost opportunities.
Shame....They sound like they might be a size that would work very well in a office/study connected to a PC/MAC via SPDIF.
We'd better wait until we see some facts. It's not unknown for early news to be incorrect (unless these have been seen/heard/touched already)
Rgds, Nick

I'm not doubting that, but all current line-up Meridian DSP speakers already have SpeakerLink outputs, so SpeakerLink in the 3200s isn't anything special. But the lack of an SPDIF input (if confirmed) is.

How long is it since SL was introduced? Maybe they feel they have given us enough changeover time?
What proportion of people here use it? (Maybe you could do a quick poll: also asking if people intend to change in the future?)
