What is the easiest / cheapest unit to use to take a 2-channel MHR input and deliver it into a headphone output ? AFAICT it's a 561M, but that still seems like a lot of box for a simple requirement.

I think that a 561M will do it (if you can find one - they are very rare), but I'm not sure what the audio path is to the headphones.
