evdberg I do not see it mentioned in this thread, but you only get 'bitperfect' using ASIO. If you use standard Windows sound output (MM lib), the sound goes through the k-mixer, which basically ruines the sound. If your soundcard does not have an ASIO driver, you might try ASIO4ALL. I tried Asio & Asio4All but could get no sound. I am using Wasapi which is also ment to be Bit Perfect. I cannot adjust volume in windows and presumed all is set OK. I found an artical for a DAC setup using J media and basically used the settings. J river setup Regards Simon
Don't you just hate to buy something described as mint condition and you find what they actually meant was polo mint (with holes).

But you need to proove beyond a doubt that J River isn't doing something. I know by default it runs a fader between songs. What card are you using?

It is a Realtek George I did the DAC Resolution Test. as per previous post, only the left speaker was giving sound. Is this correct? Regards Simon

The FLAC's are mono and most applications will obey that it is mono and play it on both speakers. Everything I have tried it on plays on both. Transporter -> G68, WinAmp to 5K's, Audacity to Laptop Speakers all output on both speakers.
Make sure your Meridian is in Direct Mode when testing.
It may be nothing but worth checking into why it's only playing on left as it may be hint of something going on that should not be.
Some day I will clean these up and make a full set in stereo and at a couple frequencies.
Did you get past the 96dB attenuated one?

Josep 5imon, There are quite noticeable differences in interfaces from computer to SPDIF. Try a M2Tech HiFace (not expensive) and be wondered, specially if you have some HR downloads. See here: http://www.m2tech.biz/products.htmlA friend took some measurements of its SPIDF singals and compared to other adapters and some dedicated sources, and the difference on the'scope display is astonishing. But more important is how it does sound (or maybe does not!). I have already two of these! I have been looking at the M2tech-Hiface. I am hopeing to borrow one of these type of convertors in near future (I would like to try first as Meridian should be reclocking output from computer to lower jitter). Do you find it makes a big difference with your setup?. Regards Simon As said I tried quite some adaptors, both into Meridian gear (568.2 and 808.2 in particular) and other DACs (Pass D1, Benchmark, Buffalo) and I heard nothing like this little italian wonder. HR tracks from computer into 808.2 via the HiFace is something of an experience... now I understand all the fuss about the HR formats, not even my old Marantz SACD player was close to this. And is quite inexpensive too Try it, at worse (?) you will sell it in almost no time and minimum loss. Regards, Josep

George Make sure your Meridian is in Direct Mode when testing. I had to change the output of J river from Wasapi to direct and then was able to do the test For interest, when I was set to Wasapi I was able to just hear the 21 bit test (with my ear next to the midrange speaker) I could just hear the 15 bit test with the volume at normal listening levels. (This was only left speaker working) With J river set to Direct there appears to be more noise coming through the system and I was only just able to hear up to 19 bit test with ear close to the speaker. Regards Simon
