I owned both the MC12B and a G68 and used their analog outs -- they sound different, but both create envelopment with soundtracks very well. I liked the G much better for music however, and the new G should be better than the old. The 861 is a different ballgame in many ways.

Are the G series up-gradeable or does Meridian offer trade-ins to trade-up to a better unit, similiar to what Lexicon does.

If a new 861v6 is not possible and if the US used market has dried up, have a look over here in UK/Europe. The traded in 861v4 are becoming available.
I think there are a couple of UK/Europe 861s on here plus a US one.

I do not plan to purchase a used. Used has "NO" warranty and the purchase is going to be at an authorized dealer.

On that basis if you think you will go down the DSP speaker route last, then you want a processor that has ballenced analogue and SpeakerLink outputs like a G68SL.

I purchased the Meridian G68 and I cant wait to install it! I downloaded the config software from the Meridian website. It was a little confusing, but I managed to figure it out. I know I will be asking questions for assistance. This is the begining of a "NEW Meridian QUEST".
Thanks
Jose

Thanks Jose Hi Jose, Congratulations with you new purchase and welcome to the wonderful world of Meridian. I'm pleased you have download M-config, it's the best place to configure up your system. Connecting the G68 to you laptop (PC) can be a little troublesome initially but once up and connected you'll be fine. Thinking a head a little, have you got an SPL meter and an long analogue cable? You will need them (and a tape measure) to calibrate each speaker`s level and also for Meridian Room Correction (MRC). Have a look on this site`s Wiki pages for help and tips with MRC. Do let us all know how you get on and of course as and when you have questions ask away. Regards, Carl
