Any ideas much appreciated before the dreaded calls begin.....

My Right speaker has a buzz. The Left one does not. Powering it off and back on has not cured this buzz. All speakers go into an ExactPower EPA15 and this is not the issue. Advice greatly appreciated.

Disconnecting all cables except power, does it have any effect?

No. Tried that. (in this case it is Comms + SPDIF)

EDIT: swapped out powercords from ExactPower AND new powercord straight into wall AND buzz remains.

Does the buzz coming from the chassis or its a mechanical-transformer- hum? buzz?
Do you warranty on it?
You are a little familiar with electronics?
When the buzz first time appear,
in standby, during playing or when you turn on the power switch?

Robert

Not sure when Buzz appeared first.

It sounds like a mechanical transformer buzz from the bass of the unit adjacent to the plug (i believe there are a pair of transformers or such at the very bass of unit.

It buzzes in standby and powered on. Not when I turn off the switch of course. But as soon as I turn it on the buzz quickly builds and remains.

The other DSPs are silent.

Bill, this a transformer hum and is harmless.
Either you get some DC voltage on the AC line or your transformer is mechanically loose.
If you want I can sent you instructions how to remove the transformer cover(whre you plug your mains in)and thighten up booth transformer.
You only need minor mechanically skills to do it,but you need instruction for it.
Send me a private email adress where I can send pictures

I may have a similar hum. If I'm playing a source I don't hear it even with quiet passages but if the source is not playing and the system is on, I get the hum. Ill send you s pm also .

I had this exact problem as you describe and it was a bad connection in power dustribution board.

It is not dc noise on your power, it's not normal.

Meridian transformers are dead silent when working correctly.

Sounds mechanical and sound is from transformer but transformer is fine.

Problem is simple but tricky to find.

I was in the process of swapping transformers and it didn't fix it.

Then with transformer on the floor (and powered)

I bumped one of the cables feeding speakers and it stopped !!

Then I just kept wiggling stuff until I found a bad connector (on the board).

If it were me (because I like dabbling in this stuff and comfortable with high voltage). We work with 30,000 volts at work.

I would either pull transformer plate and start wiggling stuff that I can reach or try swapping transformer plates between the two and see if problem moves.

I don't know how an 8K is setup in back. But you may have to remove whole back plate(s) to find it. To send in for repair you may have to do that any way. But be really careful.
