What is the latest firmware for the F80? My F80 has firmware 1.0.14 and my iPhone refuse charging, saying that the dock is unsupported hardware?
Is there somewhere to download latest F80 firmware? I assume that the F80/i80 should work without these error messages from the iPhone?

Is it asking to put unit in aeroplane mode. My apple universal dock does this and I just say no then it charges.

Mikael, there is an USB input in you dock. Connect that to a charger and you will get your iPod charged.

Hi Mikael
Apple frequently change the charging requirements with each new iPod model, so the manuafacturers of docking stations are always playing catch up. Full compatibility with this season's models could still leave any given docking device obsolete with next year's models.
This has been the case with the F80/i80. Originally, mine would charge my kids iPods, but not my own v5.5 Video iPod. After a visit to the factory for other reasons, I was delighted to see that they'd updated the iPod compatibility, and it charged my v5.5 iPod upon it's return. However, the iTouch which I got for Christmas isn't supported, so as Crion noted above, the supplied wall wart PSU needs to be used via the i80 USB input.
Cheers
George

I've just tried my 3GS and it charges fine (i.e. without extra USB connections) once I'd pressed the dock button from red to green. It prompts for airplane mode after a few seconds but either way, it charges.
Mikael - did you press the dock button?
Cheers,
Ed.

Neither my wife's 3GS nor my 3G will charge on my i80 regardless of the dock button or airplane mode setting. It has to be a hardware compatability issue - as pointed out Apple keep changing the specs so I guess it all depends on the age of the i80 you have.

Thanks all suggestions.
My old iPhone first generation looks like it is charging, it displays charging although extemely slow it seems and displaying same warnings. My 3GS is not charging. Have tried dock button and flight mode etc but no charging. Guess I have to connect the USB but I liked the idea with a single connection.
Is my F80 firmware 1.0.14 the latest? I got a cable and received the 1.0.14 firmware from my dealer and have upgraded from my initial 0.9.something.
I wonder whether there is firmware inside the i80 also that needs upgrading? I assumed only the F80 needed software. My i80 is very recent I think anyway.

I just got an F80 yesterday and it's running 1.0.14 so i assume it's the latest (or at least quite recent).

There's a change to the internal fuse which supplies the i80 as well as a firmware update. The early serial number (first few hundred) F80s were restricted in how much juice they could supply for charging. It was only when mine went back and had that addressed as an aside to the main work being done, that the i80 could charge my v5.5 iPod. The firmware had been brought bang up to date prior to then, and it still couldn't charge the v5.5 (but it did allow full iPod control, as the original was pre i80)
Cheers

Is the update of firmware on the F80 a 'dealer-only' process or can this be done by users? I've recently got an F80 Nero for home audition and it is a couple of releases behind. I can't find any firmware or instructions on M's site.
Naturally, I won't do anything until I've firmly decided and paid for the F80.
This has an iPod dock which charges my iPod 120GB Classic - but not my 16GB iPhone)

Hi Liam
The firmware update requires a trip to a dealer's shop, but it's a 5 minute job once you are there. Just checked and mine, which was updated about a year ago, is v1.0.12, so I'm now itching for an update too!
Cheers

George Thanks George, It must be that fuse because although my 1st gen iPhone indicates charging the big battery symbol has not moved and the phone has been in the dock for hours now. Probably the juice is not enough to charge.
