Apparently a run of bad luck for me...

Today I walked past my system and heard static, even though everything was turned off. I isolated it to my DSP33C. I unplugged for a while, and the sound was still there when I turned it back on. I fed some sound through it, and the output was loud and distorted, static still present.

I swapped out with my left DSP33, static still there. By swapping speakers only, I eliminated a cable problem.

So, is my DSP33C toast?

Ouch. Sounds very much like the same problem I had with one of my DSP33s. In the end, M had to do a full electronics swap.

Crap. Since I'm in the US, shipping to Meridian is not a good idea. I doubt any domestic service shot could repair. I suppose I'll just have to wait for a cheap one to pop up somewhere frown

FYI.. it makes the static even with nothing but the power cable plugged in.

Unfortunately, that sounds about right. If yours symptoms are not intermittent, it might be an easy fix. Unfortunately, my symptoms were difficult to reproduce and, at times, seemed to be signal type (sample frequency and/or MHR) dependent.

Have you tried resetting it??

You need to short pins 1 and 4 (I think it is) on the comms port while powering it on, the LED will blink a few times to confirm.

No Darling, I've had it months!

No, I didn't think of that. I will try that, I believe I have a comms reset plug around here somewhere..

Couldn't reach anyone at Meridian, GA. The adventure continues.

Well, a comm reset did not work, but thanks for the tip.

The speaker plays at full volume, with a lot of static.

Wait for the answer of M and dont turn on agaoin your speakers,
otherwise there is a very good chance that the chassis get damaged.

Good luck

Robert

Meridian in GA still has my DSP33C, after 2-3 weeks. I called last week to check on it, apparently they are very busy with repairs!
