There is an option to have the Fan - Never On. I cannot find any advice as to when it is safe or not recommended to use this option.
Is it safe to have the unit with the fan Never On?

I made an inquiry on this issue. I was told that if you set the 800 to fan never on the fan will not come on unless the temperature inside the 800 rises to a predefined level. I therefore set my 800 to fan never on and it has not come on at any time since.

When you set the fan to 'never on', have you ever had the unit cut out? I tried this on my old version 2 unit and it kept cutting out, although I haven't tried it on the version 3 unit yet. I would certainly like to turn the fan off as it is quite noisy!

I have had no problems at all with the fan off of my version 3 800. The statement by Meridian that the fan would come on if needed gave me the initiative to turn it off. The fan did not make a lot of noise prior to shutting it off, but I hate fan noise of any kind. I must add that my 800 resides in an always cool room on open shelving.
