Hello everyone,

If anyone has one of these (a PCI-based audio card plus an add-on) and willing to sell, please let me know, I would like to test something and can't seem to find these anywhere. Thanks! smile

Hi Tatu,

I have the X-Meridian and X-Tension combination running 6 channel digital out into a 568.2mm using the "G9" connector on the X-Tension.

I'm afraid it's not for sale but I might be able to help with any questions you have before you go to the expense/hassle of trying to source them.

Hello
Ronnie could you give me a quick idea of how your running 6 channel digital out into a 568.2mm using the "G9" connector from your card,im only asking as i use a media centre as my main source and would like to be able to connect it to a 568.2mm(which i am hoping to buy shortly)for mutichannel blu-ray audio?
Thanks
Andy

!Update!
Ive found the G9 output on the Auzentech website and it looks good, have you been able to get Blu-Ray DDTruehd out of the outputs?????????
Im using Arcsoft TMT3 for Blu-Ray playback?

Hi Andy,

The G9 connector has up to 8 channels of SPDIF output up to 192KHz. Using a suitable custom cable it can connect directly into the MMHR connector on the 568.2mm (max 96KHz).

Whatever output mode you select on the X-Meridian (2 channel, 6 channel, 8 channel, 44KHz, 96KHz, 192KHz) just appears on the G9 connector.

Using Foobar2000 and ASIO mode output you can verify the output is bit perfect (at least in 2 channel mode) by playing a WAV file with DTS encoded content. The 568.2 identifies the DTS stream and decodes it (even if it's coming into the MMHR connector).

Note, that if you use TMT3 it will limit the output sample rate to 48KHz and the bit depth to 16 bit.

You can google "bluraystats" to find a web site which will tell you what the format on the disk is. Quite often 48KHz / 16 bit is all there is.

So you get up to 8 channels PCM directly (and digital) to your 568.2mm?
I guess this will work with the Meridian G68J MHR input as well? And how do I make and/or buy this custom DIN cable?

Yes, even if the software players output it as 48KHz, can you select the HiRes formats and output them over the G9-output as PCM to your Meridian?

Hi DanneS,

You can make the custom cable using a VGA monitor cable (one with BNC outputs would be easiest) and then wiring the RGB cables to a 9 pin mini DIN connector. You can get the correct 9 pin mini DIN from RS Components in the UK.

If you configure the X-Meridian for 6 channel output, TMT3 will decode any selected soundtrack including TrueHD and DTS Master and output to the soundcard (48KHz, 16 bit max). If you have the X-Tension add-on you can then take the output from the G9 connector to a Meridian multichannel input.

Although the X-Meridian supports 8 channel output mode you would have to use 6 channel mode into a 568.2mm or a G series processor.

The bad news is that the X-Meridian soundcard was discontinued 2 years ago when the manufacturer lost access to the main sound chip, so finding one isn't so easy.

You also have to make sure you can get hold of an X-Tension add-on card to get the G9 connector. This card actively does the SPDIF output, you can't just connect to the internal connector on the soundcard.

I think it connects to some of the later cards but as far as I remember the G9 output only works with the X-Meridian.

I already have the X-Meridian soundcard and I have now ordered the X-Tension add-on card smile

Thanks for all the help and information Ronnie!

Best regards,
