Beat me to it!! Interesting stuff and more than I thought they would release As always, the Devil will be in the Detail though and that DETAIL doesn't appear to be there right now Hehe, sorry about that... I'm normally a daily lurker rather than poster, but having found that... I just couldn't resist! As you say... Still a lot of unanswered questions, but as an 861/800 owner, this is EXACTLY what I've been waiting for... Here's hoping that apodising is built in and just not mentioned...

What appears *fantastic* is that the architecture/MIPS of the 861 and G6x appears unchanged, which means apodizing for existing processor owners. Note also that the new G61R does not have coax digital outputs. Meridian appears to have made a brave decision to move to SpeakerLink *only* with immediate effect. This is going to kill new processor sales for existing customers who do not have SpeakerLink DSPs (unless the AC11 will accept SpeakerLink and output coax). Obvious questions: 1) What happened to the 861v5? 2) Can the Sooloos card be added to the 808.2? 3) Is Meridian going to drop the G68ADV, G68AXV, G68XXV, G68AXD, G68XXD with immediate effect? (given that the new G61R is SpeakerLink-only). 4) Will existing G61Rs and G68s be upgradeable to a MMHR input card (at least). I have my doubts... I have to say that I can see the attraction for Meridian of a single G61R (which covers SpeakerLink and unbalanced analogue) and a single G68 (which covers SpeakerLink and balanced analogue). There are going to be some unhappy punters though...

Nice..
i read: SpeakerLink provides a simpler and more robust method of connection than legacy digital audio and Comms connections, especially over long distances, making installations quicker and more reliable.
and: SpeakerLink output connectivity makes specifying and installing a Meridian Digital Theatre system easier than ever before and at the same time lifts performance to an even higher level. The inclusion of a digital output card (OE14) as part of the 861 V6 core means all 861 V6 Surround Controllers will be available as standard with sufficient output connectivity for a full Meridian Digital Theatre
What to do when you have no speakerlink equiped DSP speaker.
I think i bought a OE12 and a AC11 for nothing. Perhaps i can trade them in against the upgrade as they are in un-opened boxes..
Sold all M equipment

What appears *fantastic* is that the architecture/MIPS of the 861 and G6x appears unchanged, which means apodizing for existing processor owners. ..Or not, if apodizing is not yet implemented in processors and these product versions represent an "interim"... 1) What happened to the 861v5? It was an internal model designation only apparently ...for late version 4 861s that involved different REV's caused by different sources of some components...

Check...
Built in "Sooloos" source 7.1 Input Network connection (for streaming) New 800 cases / displays - ish... new logo
Not sure...
Low standby power requirement - probably 7.x Output - probably not
No check...
Height channels Apodising DD/DTS decode with Apodising/Upsampling Faster DSPs and more internal memory Improved (automatic via mic) calibration Improved MRC Genuine USB computer connection (for setup) Network connection (for setup) Removal of analogue video switching

What appears *fantastic* is that the architecture/MIPS of the 861 and G6x appears unchanged, which means apodizing for existing processor owners. While the inclusion of Apodizing on the 861 V6 and the new G68 seems an obvious one, I did a search using the term "Apod" in all Seven CES Documents Unfortunately, it only shows up in the 808.3 document. No specific mention of it in the 861 V6 document or elsewhere There are a number of oblique references to "Best Possible Quality" etc. but I can find no specific reference to Apodizing Please do not take this to read that it isn't included. If I had to make a bet, I would say that it is. I'm just urging caution until more Details are released Is it too late to arrange a Q&A???? The irony is that with all the mentions of an IE44, ID40, ID20 and OE14 cards (and others I may have missed) never has a Q&A been more required The overall SYSTEM CONNECTIVITY definitely now seems to be going in the right direction though Depending on iPhone Application (which isn't on iTunes yet, maybe June ) and the changes to the Ensemble backup limitations, the whole Sooloos architecture might begin to make more sense as well. Good positive steps on more fronts than I expected to be honest

I can't find the link on Duncan's site to the current price list. What is the current MSRP on the 861v4?

Yeah. Time for those Stereophile slackers to wake up! Snowed in in CT last night and just got to the city. The bad news is that I will not have time to post the press releases until the evening. The good news is, apparently, I do not have to. Nonetheless, January 4, as promised. Kal
