With so many pieces of kit to be plugged in, and so few 13a power outlets close to hand (in my house anyway)....do any H/Hikers have any recommendations re power strips / power distribution into the hifi/AV racks ???

Getting away from the foo...

I use these and they work very well.
You do need to be able to strip cable and wire a plug though.

This has often been a hotly contested topic on a par with the great cable debate / random abuse and public humiliation debacle.

Some of us are happy with Missing Link products, but whether we are wise or dupes I leave others to judge.

Olson parts are often available on eBay, whilst they are wired internally with 2.5mm wire often the input lead is only 1.5mm. I have a couple of these blocks and replaced with output lead with 2.5mm cable as well (only as I often plug in multiple power amplifiers into each block). I also usually wire out the neon, don't know if makes much difference, just seems like good practice!

You guys crack me up.

Just what is inside some of those Russ Andrews boxes that costs so much money? And how does freeze drying your power cables help? Does it alter the crystal structure of the metal? Superconducting is one thing, but you're not keeping cryogenically treated cables in the freezer, so what's going on?

Not criticising any of you fine people who like buying these things, just wondering how they work

Hi George

I use the Missing Link Reference supplier to good effect. Interestingly, having auditioned (at length) the PS Audio P500, Exact Power EP15A, Isotek Nova and Titan/Multistrip, I found the ML unit to give the most useful all round improvement with the least compromise when driving M source components. And it's the least expensive by a long way too!

Cheers

George

Time to go and find something else to do like test my fairy lights....looks like another Punch and Judy "cables are snake oil thread" is coming.

Ohhhhhh yes they are/ohhhhhh no they're not. wink
