M, I have never swapped boards, but I remember when I got my brand new 5200s, one does not work at all and after the usual checks (without removing the board), my dealer sent me two new boards (L-R) direct from the mothership, with a technician to make the swapping, my dealer assumed all costs, taking into account that he lives considerable distance from me (nearly seven hundred miles to be exact) was very nice from him. My advice is to always go to a trusted dealer, by the way, I was present at the swapping and can assure to you that is a tricky work! ;-)

I stated in the initial thread that I had a similar problem with my 7200s with a similar solution. That included changing one electronics board (DSP, amps, etc).
Now I will now add that I changed the board myself. It's heavy and therefore difficult to handle but the connections were simple for the non-electronics person such as me. The board sits in a separate compartment at the back of the speaker compartments. You don`t see the speakers. The speaker wires between the compartments make the connections.
But my strong advice is Do Not Enter! Leave it all alone. A risk is taking out too many screws at the back to enter and the board could drop down.
Also I was sent and swapped the small cable connections module at the bottom. The one sent did not work so I replaced the original module.
All that was part of all the too many problems I had with my first ever M purchase. Never want to go through all that again.
But I try and forget all that and I do enjoy the music from the 7200s from the 808.2. It`s absolutely beautiful!

Interesting .
As I said earlier everything was connected EXACTLY as the previous board was . The only difference was the dual-sided sticky tape on the earlier model which was not present on the later one .
Regarding the screws , the only ones removed were the one missing from the replacement unit so I dont think there was any problem there .
3 connections from the DSP board to the speaker cabinet and one in return . It all seemed so easy to begin with .
