to get the firmware version on the 621, connect a pc to it, run the meridian config program and do a fetch. Thanks Steve, but that would mean before and after I rip all my gear out of it's little cubbyhole, which I only want to do in serious need cases. Is it in the config program? I checked properties but I can't find anything. Aloha,

My HD621 was produced 2 weeks ago. I will check firmware when I get home, it must be the most current. So far this is a stellar piece. HDMI issues between BDP-83 and my PJ have been eliminated by running my sources into the Lumagen and then out to the HD621 and PJ separately.

I left the null modem lead supplied connected to the rear port and tucked it away where I can pull it out and plug it in to the laptop very easily. No dismantling necessary.

Malcolm,
Ah thanks! Too obvious for me to have thought of that. I suppose I could leave the USB attached to the G68 and have everything accessible.

This has happened all of once to me just this past weekend. I've had the HD621 since May. Though in the interest of fairness & science until recently I've sent limited traffic to the HD621 via HDMI. The Oppo until recently was doing duty via SPDIF instead of HDMI/HD621. Best, Jay

The fetch was successful but I never got a display showing the software version. The fetch occurred and then the window closed without revealing any data. Is there more to the procedure than just selecting fetch in the program menu?

oops, i retested and the amended process is to connect pc to HD621, run the Meridian config program, and do File->Identify. it'll popup a dialog with the firmware version and serial number.
